Did you know banana cakes were the first thing I learnt how to bake? And they were the only thing I would ever bake for a few years after, at least before we got a stand mixer and a little creativity to guide us.

It was my aunt who taught me how to make these simple, irrestible cakes. I made them for friends, for teachers, for family, and now I sell them with pretty great feedback.

Today is her birthday, but because she lives so far away we have actually never celebrated it together. So this post is dedicated to her for being a good chunk of the origin story of the Bake-aWay! Life truly can be boiled down to good company and good food. Sometimes you won't have both in the way you want it and that's OK too.
