A traditional nyonya kueh made with grated tapioca mixed in with coconut milk. It is then baked, to give you a cake that is naturally gluten-free and lightly sweetened. The texture of this baked tapioca cake will be soft and springy, with a crispy crust on the top at the same time.

Aromatic and flavorful glutinous rice balls, filled with hae bee hiam (aka dried shrimp sambal). Typically wrapped in banana leaves and then grill to impart that nice aroma from the banana leaves. But here at The Kueh Kakis, we chose to remove the leaves after the grill process, to keep it hassle free for everyone when consuming.

A traditional and very popular choice when one thinks of kueh.

Kueh Salat has a simple two-layer composition: on the bottom is a bed of fragrant chewy glutinous rice, then topped with a sweet pandan custard layer which is beautifully green. Its all-natural colour is provided by pandan leaves, and optionally blue pea flowers juice can be added to create patterns in the rice.

The Kueh Kakis added our own touch by switching it to Gula Melaka to give it a rich yet not overwhelmingly sweet flavor. Our version is definitely worth trying, if you havenโ€™t had a chance before.
