To our Sayang’s friends and customers, we owe you a formal apology, as this year’s Dark Forest Log Cake returns.
Last December, many of you told us you spent half your gatherings defending the cake.
“Sure this is vegan?”
“No eggs? No butter?”
Apparently soft sponge and rich ganache were a bit too convincing.
We also heard about the ten minute delays because everyone insisted on getting just one more photo… and the silent tables where nobody talked because everyone was too busy enjoying their slice.
Then there were all the messages about how much you appreciated the cake being Halal made with fair trade and ethically sourced ingredients. Some even said we packed in too much thoughtfulness for one dessert.
So if this year brings back the same sweet chaos, the same interrogations, the same emotional attachment to the last slice… we’re apologising early.
We see you. We hear you. And we’ll keep trying our best to make something good enough to cause this kind of trouble.
