Banana cake

We were always told that a banana after exercising is good for us. Have you wondered what are the benefits? Its fiber improves our digestion and prevents disease. Vitamin C increases our immunity. Vitamin B6 improves our metabolism. Potassium and magnesium help to maintain a healthier heart and lowers blood pressure and blood sugar. They can prevent and ease muscle cramps as well.

This banana cake will make you go bananas. It is soft and moist with a strong banana taste and smell. One that I could smell even when it’s baking in the oven. With a hint of cinnamon, it adds a warm depth in taste.

Blueberry cake

Blueberry is an antioxidant superfood. Packed with antioxidants and phytoflavinoids, they are also high in potassium and vitamin C. With benefits like lowering risk of heart diseases and cancer as well as being anti-inflammatory, we should add more of it into our diet.

In the form of dessert, this blueberry cake is tender, moist and bursting with tart juicy blueberries. As it is baked with sourdough starter, there’s a hint of sourdough tang. To balance out the tartness, it is topped with a crunchy cinnamon spiced suagr coating.

Today’s focus

- Green Goddess hummus
- Sourdough crackers with olive oil and herbs

Green goddess hummus is fresh and flavourful. With a mix of fresh herbs and lemon, it is bright and herbaceous. Perfect for a herb lover. When paired with the sourdough crackers, it is a match in heaven. The simplicity of the crackers brings out the flavours of the hummus.

With this new year, it meant a revamp of menu. One that I didn’t take lightly and was almost hesitant to start. But here it is, something a little different but no less delicious. May I present to you. LivBakes, where sourdough and hummus collides.

Every item is carefully selected based on my goal of being as healthy as possible. With the addition of sourdough starter in my bakes, it ups the health benefits. Instead of relying on mostly sugar, I’ve decided to add in fruits which naturally sweetens the cakes. Despite making changes, they are still as moist and delicious.

Hummus is a recent found love of mine. I never expected to fall in love with it because it comprises of mostly of chickpeas which I absolutely refuse to eat. Imagine my surprise when it was sooooo yummy. Having tasted such delicious dish, it spurred me to recreate it. I would say, my creation is close to what i’ve tasted. Super smooth and creamy, full of flavour. Superb for dipping and even eating it on its own.

ORDER OPENED FOR CNY GOODIES

It’s the time of the year again. Red, gold with plenty of goodies to stuff our tummies with. Here’s to another round of yummy treats after Christmas 😂

Experimented with some new recipes and kept some old ones.

1. Pineapple tarts
2. Almond cookies
3. NEW! Sesame cookies
4. NEW! Earl grey cookies
5. NEW! Coffee cookies

Pineapple tarts need no introductions at all. It is that one goodie you ALWAYS see during CNY. Since it is totally made from scratch, I love that I am able to control the sweetness of the filling. Mass produced ones usually ends up too sweet for my taste, making it very jelak to eat after popping a few. The crust is buttery and crumbly.. When paired with the pineapple filling, you’ll almost forget how “sinful” each mouthful is.

As a fan of almonds, these almond cookies are irresistible. They are totally almond loaded, super nutty and crumbly. It may not look or taste like much at first but it gets addictive after eating a few.

The base of cookies 3-5 are the same. The difference is only the ingredient for each individual flavour. It is highly addictive as it is light and crisp. I really had to stop myself from popping a few more in my mouth as I was trying it out. Although they are based from the same recipe, the earl grey and coffee ones seem to be a little more crisp. Flavour wise, it’s not too overpowering. Nutty and sweet sesame. Fragrant and cirtrusy earl grey. Strong, robust coffee.

🎄Christmas is fast approaching! 🎄

Livxbakes is offering cookies on top of the usual loaf cakes. Do grab the limited festive cookies as it won’t be for order after 05/01/2022.

🍪 Crispy molasses cookies: Perfectly crisp on the edges, packed with spices. Very Christmas-y without it being the usual gingerbread man.

🍪 Brown butter sugar cookies: Buttery, nutty, full of flavour. An upgrade from the usual sugar cookie with Christmas colour sprinkles.

🍪 Christmas themed cut out cookies with royal icing: Something normal but is a big hit with the kids. (Or at least for mine. My kids couldn’t wait for the icing to dry before gobbling them down.)

🍰 Loaf cake highlight for this festive season is Chocolate berry. Filled with 3 different berries, it is tart and bursting with flavour. Something a little different from the plain old chocolate loaf.

These are perfect as a simple gift itself or as an accompaniment to your actual gift. If you’re planning on celebrating with your family and friends, it’s great for sharing too!

As Christmas is approaching, it’s time to crack our brains on presents for gifting. Personally, I prefer gifts that is practical or useful. As a person who loves her desserts, I would almost never say no to sweet treats. So yes, gifting me with something tasty is definitely good! 😋

We always see Gingerbread man or houses during the Christmas period. Hence, it was challenging to find something different. After much research, I have 3 different cookies available.
