So you know that I love New York and that I consider this amazing city my home away from home. Also, I like to play with construction in various forms, and that of course includes DEconstruction. 😍 Last week I got a question from to create a gingerbread house for the opening of their exhibition starting tomorrow. Of course I said yes and this is what I came up with. 🏚 I wanted to create something that told a story of something that once was. In NYC I often walked around looking at empty and abandoned houses wondering what had happened. Looking from the outside and seeing time standing still. Also, I'm known for being very meticulous so I thought it would be fun to create something that is actually suppose to look broken. 😉 The gingerbread house is 37 cm high and 44 cm wide so it's a pretty big piece. I only used gingerbread and sugar throughout the entire construction and every single piece is hand cut. I stopped counting the pieces when I reached 642. 😜 I especially love how the brick walls turned out. I glued the pieces on one at a time (yes, that took about 5 hours) and then covered the gaps with royal icing. Hope you like it!
