🚄 The Peninsula reported on 11 May 2026 that the GCC railway linkage project has reached over 50% of completion, which was confirmed by the Director General of the GCC Railways Authority, Mohammad Al-Shabrami, during a video interview with the Saudi newspaper Okaz.

A second Qatari LNG tanker, Mihzem, is approaching the Strait of Hormuz en route to Pakistan after Islamabad reportedly reached an agreement with Iran to allow several energy shipments to pass through the strategic waterway. The vessel loaded its cargo at Ras Laffan in late February, according to ship-tracking data from MarineTraffic.⁠

The transit, if successful, would mark the second Qatari LNG shipment to cross Hormuz since the outbreak of the U.S.-Iran war. The first tanker, Al Kharaitiyat, successfully crossed the key waterway on Sunday and is estimated to arrive to Port Qasim in Karachi on Monday evening.
