City Public Higher Secondary School (CPHSS) Rohri announces the successful collaboration with the Zehan Saaz Team through the Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Implementation of a Pilot Project focused on Social Emotional Learning (SEL). This initiative reflects the institution’s continued commitment to professional development, educational innovation, and the holistic growth of its teaching faculty to foster a more supportive, empathetic, and emotionally aware learning environment.
The pilot project comprised a comprehensive four-session Teacher Training Program, specifically designed for the Elementary Faculty Members. Conducted over the course of one month, the training sessions were held every Saturday, with one dedicated session each week. A total of 17 Elementary Faculty Members actively participated in this professional development initiative, demonstrating their enthusiasm and commitment to enhancing their teaching competencies and adopting contemporary educational practices.
The training program was facilitated by Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah, a UNESCO-Certified Trainer with extensive experience in Pakistan’s Development Sector. His professional journey also includes working with Lincoln Corner Khairpur under the U.S. Consulate General Karachi, reflecting his engagement with educational development, capacity building, and learning initiatives. Through his expertise and practical insights, the programme provided participating teachers with valuable opportunities to explore the principles and practical applications of Social Emotional Learning within the school environment.
Social Emotional Learning plays a significant role in modern education by helping teachers understand and address the emotional, social, and interpersonal needs of students. It emphasizes essential competencies such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship-building, empathy, responsible decision-making, and emotional regulation. By incorporating these principles into classroom practices, teachers can create more inclusive, positive, and engaging learning experiences while strengthening their relationships with students and colleagues.
For CPHSS, this initiative represents an important step towards strengthening the professional capacity of its elementary teaching faculty. The knowledge, skills, and practical strategies gained through this programme are expected to support teachers in managing classrooms more effectively, understanding students’ emotional needs, encouraging positive behaviour, resolving interpersonal challenges, and cultivating a culture of mutual respect and collaboration.
