Buko Pie History

Let's face it, we all have more than one page of our bulleted "Bucket List" containing dreams that are yet to come true. As for myself, I remember jotting one down on the month of April 2010 praying for "one specific baking product." Believe me, it was a dream that has been invested with much prayers.

One time, a customer asked me to bake for her any pie and I excitedly tried the buko pie recipe of my mother. (Unfortunately, there were no more orders placed afterwards.) Holding onto God's promise, I presumed it's just not yet the time. Time flew and the 18th of November 2011 came. My daughter's classmate ordered one buko pie. Since our mini oven could accommodate more than one pan, we decided to fit five more inside. Among the 6 pies, two pies had been photographed and were served so my family and employees could taste test them.

I uploaded the photos, as what I usually do to thank my customers whenever they order our customized cakes and pastries. I was surprised to receive inquiries from friends asking if there were more pies available and immediately placed their orders. The remaining three pies were sold right away and we had to bake more for the piled up orders that we received starting that day. We had received good feedback with the orders and so from 6 pies, orders reached up to 12 pies then 24...72.

Since then, the baking area was filled with buko pie aroma reaching the entire neighborhood. The oven was on all day and night baking batches and batches of buko pies and we bought a bigger oven that can accommodate 24 pies per batch. Until such time that there came to a point where my nephew would check to see when his name would be called for his order written on the white board and kept asking his mom, "Where can we buy Mama Winnie's best pie ever aside from our house? I always have to reserve and wait for my buko pie." This happened in December 2011, the boom of Heavenly Sweets Buko Pie. Indeed, God really answers prayers in His perfect time.
