Memories of eating our way through Japan is what inspired us to make our Japanese Pork Curry with cheese Pie.

The curry pan in Kuromon Market in Osaka was the flavor profile we wanted to recreate in pie form. The rich flavor in a thick sauce in an all-butter crust that shatters with each bite.

A personal favorite and pretty darn proud of it.

Moved to our temporary kitchen and as soon as we got our bearing, it seemed only fitting that the first thing we baked was the pie that started it all - our Portuguese Egg Pie. 🥧

After much testing, we couldn’t choose which pie we liked best. So, we decided to add both of them!

I’ve always been an emotional eater. I have go-to food items for whatever I’m feeling. I guess you could say I eat my feelings. My happy food makes me feel happier when I eat them. My comfort food helps me feel better. This is why I always make sure I have comfort food available for me whenever I might need them. I know they don’t really solve anything and the comfort they give may only be temporary. But, somehow, that break is just what I needed at that time.

What about you? Are you an emotional eater, too? What food items do you have handy for those “just in case” moments?
