Birthday mo?

No flower cake on our feed today but an explosion of colors. Layers of chocolate and vanilla cake filled with chocolate ganache and covered with colorful Swiss meringue buttercream, this cake is sure to make someone’s birthday party extra brighter.

Another day, another flower cake.💐🌺💐

This time, some hand drawn florals - that kinds that I would usually doodle on paper.

I didn’t have much of a design idea until last night when I was scrolling through Pinterest but I do know that I’ll be using a pastel color palette. When I saw those hand drawn flowers, I knew right away that that’s the one.😊 Although, I’ve done something similar on paper doing it on a cake using buttercream is still quite of a challenge. But we love challenges here at Slices and Bites. I took on the challenge and it’s not quite bad for a first try, don’t you think?

The only design request they made was that they wanted flowers.

So, I gave them a flower garden.😊

These flowers are made using a combination of palette knife painting and piping.

It’s been a while since I made a flower cake. I guess, I got quite excited that I made a design that wraps around the cake. It’s challenging and requires a bit of a learning curve but all the effort paid off when I saw the final design.

🍰 - Red velvet filled with cream cheese frosting. You could never go wrong with a classic pairing.

A mermaid cake without the mermaid tails.

Same fun, playful and whimsical cake but a little grown up - because the young lady who got this cake is celebrating her 18th birthday.

They wanted the same cake that was posted recently but since I really don't do cakes with exact same design - because, why would you want the same cake as someone else's?🤷‍♀️ Sure, the flavors can be the same as the other but design-wise, it has got to match the celebrant.

For this cake, I figured they'd want the same color palette so, I made a little bolder and for the subtle design upgrade, I used a stencil to create that wheat spike pattern and a bigger rice paper sail for an added character.
