🍪 Habakooki Is Back — and It's Time 🌈

Hi friends,
First off, thank you to everyone who's messaged about getting your hands on Habakooki. I haven’t been able to reply to each one, but here’s the update you’ve been waiting for: we're accepting orders again! (more details at the bottom)

🛡️ Riley the Fighter
As many of you know, our tiny avenger Riley Ani is currently in the NICU, her lungs still growing stronger each day. She's faced a few health scares - normal risks given her condition, each one stirring fear and uncertainty. Thanks to the skilled hands and sharp instincts of the NICU team, every concern has been met with swift and steady care.
Riley, true to form, has been caught making side-eyes at doctors and rolling her eyeballs at her parents. I'm sure she’s excited to come home, but for now, she’s still sprinkling her sparkle around the NICU until the doctors allow her to go home.

💛 A Net of Kindness
This journey has brought love pouring in from every direction: family, old friends, new friends, kind strangers, even government aid. Whether through prayer, financial assistance, or behind-the-scenes fundraisers - each act has helped support Riley's medical needs. We pray that every blessing finds its way back, returning a hundredfold to those who’ve lifted her story with love.

💸 Where We Are Now
The wallet-squeezing financial journey continues. The bills stretch like an elastic band. Some days we manage to hold the tension, other days they snap back and test your faith.
Right now, the hospital bill still looms, an imposing figure casting its shadow across our quiet victories. We’ve got more than ₱1M left to raise, to cover what we hope is the final leg of this NICU chapter before Riley gets the green light to come home.
It’s a tall ask, but we’re holding tight to hope. Every prayer, every order, every bit of help pulls us closer to that moment when Riley’s crib at home isn’t just waiting - it’s ready.
But we trust the timing. That healing will unfold beautifully. That generosity will keep showing up in unexpected ways. Riley’s story already carries a quiet kind of magic - it opens hearts, stirs kindness, and keeps us believing.

I baked for my kids first. Then, eventually, my nieces, nephews, cousins’ children, my friends’ kids... I made it my mission to make sure every child in my orbit got a taste of something warm and homemade.

Honestly, these are just regular cookies. Just made with love. ❤

My dad would casually drop, “I need two boxes for a meeting”—an hour before heading out. He's the only Senior Ultra VIP allowed to rush me like that. And every time his clients ask where they can get cookies like those, he flexes that he's got exclusive access.

I realize I’ve been baking cookies for a long time - since the kids were little. Do I have an empire to show for it? Haha, nope. But I do have stories.

Maybe I’ve just been too lazy to scale it up or turn it into a full-blown business. Or maybe it’s not laziness at all - just life. I’ve had those moments, sure—flashes of ambition where I imagine branding, sales, production lines. Then something distracts me, and I forget… until it circles back again, feeling oddly familiar. Like déjà vu wearing an apron.

I looked through my cookie photos the other day, what a timeline! It goes back to 2012, when my daughter first learned the anthem of her first-ever influencer: a hairy, blue monster with no pants and a mad obsession for cookies.

"C is for Cookie—that’s good enough for me."

She turned to me, wide-eyed and eager: "Can I HABAKOOKI?"

Back then, cookies were expensive, and I had never baked a thing in my life. But I looked at her and said, "Okay. I’ll bake for you."

Havent seen her for more than a decade (ok, 2 decades hehe), but she's just as youthful and energetic as she was back then. Aside from Nihonggo and English, she speaks tagalog, ilonggo (and a bit of other local pinoy dialects. ). She's so cool she could be a Ghibli character, and her entire family is pretty amazing too.

Glad to know her sons enjoyed the Habakoookis!

Storytime.

My 'baon' back in hs usually consisted of homebaked cookies that mom would lovingly make for me and my sisters. Tapos pagdating sa school naprepressure ako magshare kasi inaabangan ng classmates ko yung baon ko 😒 pero i felt proud of my mom's cookies, kasi talaga naman feeling ko kaya ako naalala ng classmates ko dahil dun.

Had the chance to see my batchmates over the weekend, for a homecoming game at my alma mater. (Because Alma Matters.. Waat? Haha shucks ang korni) This time, its my own baked cookies that i brought, and gave them small packs that they could bring home pang baon. Tapos umabot din sa kids nila na. Parang full circle. 😊

In the past years, I would gently knock on her door, peeking to see if she’s awake. She’d usually be watching her koreanovelas. I’d humbly present to the queen a small batch of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. Sometimes, i made cute bitesized cookies for her. Or enormous ones. She was my critic, and i loved baking for her. When she had difficulty chewing food, i tweaked my cookies to be softer, so she could enjoy it. Even the kids loved the softer consistency that was inspired by Nanay.

I’d always ask her, “Masyado bang matamis? Tama lang po ba?”, and i valued the feedback i got from her. But always, her eyes would twinkle, and with a smile playing in the corner of her lips, she would discreetly slide it
towards her like it was a secret she didn’t want to share. She was so good at hiding her stash, you'd think it was illegal to keep cookies.

I miss you Nanay. Happy Birthday.
