Empanada has been a big part of my life ever since I was a kid. I still remember how my parents turned this homemade crunchy Empanadas into a small business. Our house located in Project 8 Quezon City was always packed with all those Empanada ingredients everyday. Imagine the smell of freshly cooked Empanadas everyday.
Back in the early 90’s during my high school days, I used to have 2 backpacks with me everyday to school. One bag is for my stuffs for school and the other bag is for my Empanadas and other food items. My classmates used to call me “Aleng Ason” like I’m a “Manang” selling products during break time. Even my teachers supported my small business. Looking back, it was quite a memorable and indeed a great learning experience wherein I learned how to value everything in life.
I’ve been back in Manila for 2 years now and I was thinking on what should I do at home aside from being a full-time mom to my “Two Sweet” girls and a full-time housewife. I thought of so many things, attended few seminars and went to multiple trade and food expos to get some ideas and check out on the latest trends and possible opportunities today.
After almost 25 years, life has come in full circle. Who would have thought that after earning a degree and spending 17 years in the corporate world, 7 years locally and 10 years as OFW, that I would go back to selling Empanadas??
I’m happy to be back where it all started and continue with my family’s homemade crunchy Empanadas!! You really never know what life has in store for you and I am just truly blessed to have a supportive family behind this venture.
