Happy 67th Birthday, Tatay Willie (Sir Willie)!
Thank you for being the true “Will” behind VANWILL’s Native Delicacies. We love you always—with the highest honor and deepest respect, even more than the recognition given to academic or corporate achievements.
You are far greater than the work you do, and you deserve far more than the often underrated rewards given to small business fighters like you. Through hardships, trials, and many challenges, you remained humble, strong, and determined in sustaining and maintaining our kakanin production.
Birthday Tribute for Tatay Willie
Today, we honor not just a man turning 67, but a life that tells a story of resilience, sacrifice, transformation, and faith.
Tatay Willie lost his parents when he was still a teenager. Among many siblings, he was the second youngest, and life in the province of Sta. Maria, Isabela was never easy. He finished elementary and high school, but his dream of studying in Manila—and even becoming a police officer or soldier—had to be set aside because of financial hardship.
Instead of giving up, he chose to fight.
He embraced the reality of hard work. He farmed, fished, became a warehouse helper, a tricycle driver, and a messenger—often working double jobs for nearly three decades. Life tested him deeply, including the painful loss of their firstborn child. But even in grief, he kept moving forward.
When his children were born—especially the youngest in 1995—something changed in him. Tatay made a firm decision to transform his life. He gave up his vices—smoking, gambling, excessive drinking—not because he was forced to, but because he was convicted to build a better and brighter future for his family.
Together with Nanay Vangie, they believed in a dream. Even if it looked like a pipe dream, they believed it would one day become a manifested reality.
From a small capital, they started selling kakanin and running a simple carinderia. Day after day, they sold near street corners and schools. Through hard work, discipline, saving, and even loans, they slowly built stability. After nearly four decades of renting, they finally built a home they could call their own. Their children graduated as academic awardees—proof that sacrifice bears fruit.
Tatay Willie is also a deeply faithful and prayerful man. Even if he does not always physically attend Mass, his faith is alive—in his quiet prayers, in his sacrifices, and in the way he loves and leads his family. That is the strength of a true father.
Now, at 67, even though he can already rest, he still chooses to stay active. Despite health challenges, he continues to persevere—with courage, humility, and faith.
Tatay, your life teaches us that true success is not measured by titles, wealth, or recognition. It is measured by transformation, sacrifice, discipline, and unconditional love.
You are proof that dreams—no matter how small or impossible they seem—can mature into reality through faith and hard work.
Happy 67th Birthday, Tatay Willie.
We honor you. We thank you.
And we love you—always.
