Spanish bread is a soft and moist kind of bread. It has a filling of butter and sugar. It has some similarity with ensaymada which is made with eggs, butter, and sugar. However, the Spanish bread is rolled into a flat sheet and twirled to form like this.

Torta is a common word from Spain, Portugal, Italy and Mexico. The word can mean flatbread and could be refered to as bread or pastry.

In the Philippines, depending on what region you are in this could also mean things like omelete or soft sponge cake.

In our bakery this is how the Torta looks like and tastes super delicious. This pastry is the no. 1 selling pastry we have in our bakery. It only takes a short time to sell this item once baked and displayed.

Pan de Monja a.k.a. nun’s bread for short Filipinos call it Monay.

Monay is the mum of all the Filiipino bread. From its dough you can make many other bread i.e. Putok, Sputnik and others. All you have to do if you are making other bread is to control how much water you put in the dough and its proofing time of course.

Not sure why they call it nun`s bread and then gave it a provocative design which is split in the middle. The term Monay then had become a popular reference to the female ge****ls. But as you see, our Monay does not have that awkward design anymore.

Come and try our warm and moist Monay.

The ensaïmada ( pl. ensaïmades ) was adopted by the Filipinos from the Spanish 300 yrs ago.

The first written reference to it was in the 17th c. The Spanish baked it with saïm (pork lard) hence, they call it ensaïmada. However, the Filipino version of the ensaimada is baked with butter then topped it with cheese or cream and sugar.

Pan de Putok a.k.a. Star Bread. This bread is known as Putok in the Philippines because it looks like it is exploded on top. The top of the bread did not explode it is just clipped using scissors or a sharp knife to look like that. The crown like thingy on top is its signature.

This bread is compact and dense depending on its proofing time.

The term "Putok" in the Filipino language can mean stinky armpit.

This bun is tasty, sweet and smells inviting, contrary to its Filipino street name.

History has spoken, the Spaniards conquered different places in the world. Most of these places had a vast supply of coconuts. So then the Pan de Coco a.k.a. coconut bread was born. Filipinos eat this pastry as a snack or dessert while the Spanish eat this with their stews as dinner rolls. In the Philippines the sweetened grated coconut is use for filling the bread while in the Spanish time, the coconut meat and milk was mixed in the dough.

This was brought to the Philippines by the Spaniards in the 17th century. It is a very popular item in our bakery.

Monggo filling is also available in our bakery.

Pandesal a.k.a "salt bread" is prepared with a sprinkled salt , flour, eggs, yeast and sugar. Originally, the Pandesal was prepared using wheat flour but due to the scarcity of its supply in the Philippines, the bakers had to use different kinds of flour.

Pandesal is one of the most popular items we have in our bakery. Different from its name Pandesal does not tastes salty but sweet.

There is nothing more delightful in the morning than to wake up with the fresh aroma of Pandesal and coffee on your table.
