I understand that Matcha isn't everyone's cup of tea.
But for me, the refreshing earthy taste of Matcha complements the sweet and crunchy texture of the cookie really well 💚

I can't think of more words to describe it further, basta Matcha-rap siya. 😂

Carrot Cake 🥕
Mother's Day 2020

The taste and texture turned out good but there was a lot to improve on the consistency of the cream cheese frosting. I also tried to make fondant out of powdered milk and condensed milk (Pastillas Fondant) for the carrot details and toppings. The cake was covered in crushed almond nuts because there was no walnuts available that time. The cute little "Happy Mother's Day" topper was handwritten by my sister.

I'm really happy with how this cake turned out but just like all other things, there is definitely a large room for improvement for this one. 🧡

I’ve mentioned in a previous post that my baking hobby started as a product of isolation. From mid-March to May, we were on strict lockdown due to the Covid-19 Pandemic 😷
During those months, two of my siblings celebrated their birthdays.
Last May 2020, my youngest sister celebrated her 21st Birthday at home. We weren’t able to go out and buy her a cake, so I made her one. 👩🏻‍🍳

Tadaaaaa! 🤗

My sister isn’t really as expressive as I am. In fact, just like this personalised comic portrait drawn by a young artist called “Joshy”, she always look emotion-less. But on the day of her birthday, we saw it in her that she was happy with our simple efforts to make her special day, a little more special ✨

Wow. I can’t believe that this was the very first cake I made from scratch. 🙈🙈🙈

Yes, it is faaaaar from perfect but I was genuinely happy with the outcome of this cake and my family loved it as well.

The year was 2020. The world suddenly stopped and everyone was stuck in their homes.

Most of us developed a new hobby or learned a new skill during months of Isolation. Some learned how to cook, some learned a new game or sport. In my case, I tried learning how to bake.

As the world slowly tries to open again, my fondness and interest in baking gradually increased.

From simple cookies to cakes, I enjoyed making baked goods for my family and friends.

2020 might be considered as the worst year EVER in mankind, but for me I have found some silver lining in it. I discovered a source of happiness and it fuelled a passion in me that I never knew I possess.

This year, I finally gathered the courage to share my new found passion to the world.

I really hope that you’ll feel the same joy I found in baking while I share with you these simple creations I made at home.
