The offbeat cake for the offbeat couple. Always the most fun kind to design.

This was one of those cakes that’s so full of personal touches, it really only makes sense if you’re the kind of person it was made for.

This couple is outdoorsy. They love a rustic feel but didn’t want the usual rustic look. Technically, it’s still a “white” wedding cake…just very much non-traditional.

The birchwood finish was created using cut wafer paper, hand-painted to mimic the birch look. The sugar florals were done in their colors, blue and rust. And the best part was their RV, sculpted in gumpaste and hand-painted, because that’s such a huge part of who they are.

Personal touches, through and through.

To say we had fun making this cake would be an understatement.

I love the crazy designs.

The ones where you can tell the couple is genuinely having fun conceptualizing their wedding.

It’s your day. You don’t have to be tied to norms or tradition unless that’s what you actually want. And if you’re a little extra, there’s really no better place to express that than at your wedding, especially in your cake.

This one was inspired by Taylor Swift’s 'Lover' album. Of course it was. And I loved every second of making it.

One thing we always promise our clients is this: we can take your vision and turn it into something elegant while still keeping it fun, personal, and unmistakably you. We won’t tone it down. We’ll elevate it.

So come to us with your crazy ideas. Bring the themes you love, the references that make you smile, the visions that feel very you.

Let’s make something beautiful and uniquely yours together. 🤍

Not everything meaningful needs to be big.

Lately, we’ve been noticing something beautiful in the wedding cake commissions coming our way.

A few years ago, couples would almost apologize for wanting a smaller cake. As if “less” needed justification. As if a celebration only mattered if it was towering, dramatic, and loud.

That feeling is slowly fading it seems.

As we move into 2026, we’re seeing weddings that feel calmer and more personal. Couples aren’t performing anymore. They’re gathering their people. Hosting, not showcasing. Choosing intimacy over spectacle, while being incredibly intentional about who they trust with the details that matter most.

And a smaller cake? It doesn’t make the moment smaller at all. Often, it makes it more meaningful.

When there’s no pressure to impress, the cake gets to be intentional. Scale gives way to soul. Quantity gives way to care. Every inch is considered. Every curve, brushstroke, and fold of drapery is given the time it deserves.

A single-tier cake invites people closer. It’s not something admired from across a ballroom. It’s something guests linger over. Something you can stand beside, notice, and feel.

That said, grand ballroom weddings are still incredibly beautiful, and we love creating for them, too. What matters most to us is that the couples finding their way to us feel free to choose intention at any scale. Intimate or grand. Quiet or celebratory. What matters is that it feels true to them.

This shift feels deeply aligned with how we’ve always wanted to work. We don’t need to create everything for everyone. We just want to create something truly special for you.

This season feels quieter, softer, and somehow, better.

Since the year began, the inquiries have been coming in steadily. There was a time when that would have made my chest tighten a little. I’d stare at messages, thinking about everything else waiting to be done, wondering how I’d show up for all of it without losing myself in the process.

These days feel different. We reply within a week, sometimes sooner, not because we’re rushing, but because we’ve finally given ourselves space. Saying yes more carefully changed everything. The days feel softer. The work feels more intentional. I feel more present.

What’s surprised me most is how aligned these conversations have been. People reaching out who are drawn to the same things we are: artistic elegance, thoughtful details, beauty that doesn’t try too hard. It feels like being understood without having to explain too much.

We’ve never really followed trends. We notice them, sit with them, let them pass through our own lens. Sometimes that means we try them later than everyone else. But I’ve found that there are times when we’re also ahead of the trend without noticing.

This cake was made years ago for a beloved aunt and uncle. The soft drapery, the wildflowers…a look that feels everywhere now was only just budding then. Even now, it still feels current. Gentle. Unrushed. Still holding its own.

That’s always been what we strive for when it comes to design. To make something that doesn’t feel tied to a moment, but to a feeling. Something that can be looked back on and still feel beautiful.

I’m feeling excited about this year. Grounded. Grateful. Ready, in a slow and steady way. 🎂

Looking back at our old wedding cakes always makes me feel a lot of things.

This one was made back when semi-naked cakes were everywhere. We were doing them nonstop, and I remember feeling this restless urge to try something different. Not louder. Just more us. Even though at that point, we were still figuring out what “us” really meant.

We weren’t working with fondant yet, so everything was done in white chocolate ganache. We hand-piped the florals freehand, trying to make them look like lace, and finished it with a simple spray of sugar peonies. When I look at those peonies now, I’ll admit I cringe a little at how beginner they look. But I also remind myself that we all start somewhere. That version of us deserves grace, too.

If you compare this to our bespoke work now, this cake would probably be called “simple.” But back then, it absolutely was not.

All three tiers were real cake, and our ganache recipe wasn’t as stable as what we use today. Every move felt scary. We handled it like it might fall apart if we breathed wrong.

And the space we worked in…we didn’t have a proper studio yet. Just a tiny room that barely fit two people, a table, and our tools. Every stack felt like a high-stakes moment. No room for mistakes. No room to move.

When this cake was finally done, I cried. I remember standing there, exhausted, and just feeling so proud. As the creator, I don’t always love what we create because all I see are the flaws. But that day, I really did. I saw how far we’d pushed ourselves.

Now, whenever I catch myself feeling annoyed that our current studio feels cramped with bigger, more demanding commissions, I pause. I think back to that tiny room. I remember how much we were able to do with almost nothing.

Every tier, every piped flower, every uncomfortable hour led us here. And I’m so grateful for all of it. 🧡
