One day, Miga Joey messaged me and said, “I’m sending you a loaf of sourdough. Give it a try.” A rider delivered it to my house.

I have very high standards when it comes to sourdough. I usually buy mine in Manila because, honestly, I hadn’t found one in Iloilo that really impressed me.

The moment I sliced it open and saw those beautiful air pockets, I thought, This is a good sign.

I toasted a few slices, spread a little garlic butter, sprinkled some herbs, and added a bit of tomato paste.

Then came my reaction…

OMG. 😍

The moment I took a bite, I knew this was the real deal. The side crust was perfectly crisp, the inside was light and airy, and it toasted beautifully. Even without any toppings, I would happily eat it just as it is.

I immediately messaged Miga Joey:

“Where did you buy this?”

When she told me it was from M&C Bakehouse, I was even more surprised.

Only ₱280!

That’s more than 50% cheaper than the sourdough I usually buy in Manila.

I’m simply happy that Iloilo now has a sourdough this good. Discovering local businesses that create products of this quality always makes me smile.
