May mga kwento na tahimik lang pero mabigat ang pinanggalingan.
For some of us, tuwing Christmas and New Year, chiffon cake lang talaga ang kaya. Hindi dahil choice, kundi dahil iyon lang ang sapat noong panahong kulang na kulang ang lahat.

Sanay kami sa ganun.
We didn’t have much before, and over time, we learned not to ask for more. Kung ano ang meron, yun na. And somehow, chiffon cake became our favorite not because it was fancy, but because it was always there.

Habang ang iba may iba’t ibang handa sa mesa, chiffon was our constant.
It quietly became part of the celebration, kahit simple lang, kahit walang sobra.

Ngayon, things are different.
We can afford more expensive cakes and handa already. May choices na, may variety na. Pero kahit anong mangyari, hinahanap pa rin ang chiffon.

Hindi dahil wala nang iba.
But because it reminds us of who we were when we had so little. Para siyang paalala ng mga panahong kapos pero nagsusumikap, ng mga Paskong payak pero buo.

Minsan, ang mga simpleng bagay ang pinakamatagal manatili.
Chiffon cake stayed not just on the table, but in the story of how far we’ve come.
