I still remember the time when I first started teaching in Vietnamβit was truly a struggle. I faced a lot of criticism, judgment, and even humiliation. I received negative feedback from students, teachers, parents, and even my boss. My boss often commented on how I dressed, how I taught, and even my language. She told me that I needed to improve.
One day, I realized that I couldnβt keep teaching the same way I did back in the Philippines. Things were different here. So, I decided to make changes. I started researching, asking my friends for advice, and adjusting my language so that my students could understand me more easily.
After three months of hard work, my boss began to notice my efforts. She told me that, at first, they were disappointed because I had received many complaints during my first month. But later on, they saw my dedication and started to believe in me. Their feedback, though difficult to hear at first, actually helped me grow. It saved my teaching career.
At that time, I still had pride in myselfβI thought, βWhy should I listen to them when I already have a Masterβs degree and years of teaching experience in the Philippines?β But I realized that humility and adaptability are also part of being a good teacher.
Now, with my current company, Iβve been able to apply my knowledge, experience, and creativity in teaching. I didnβt expect that they would appreciate my work so much during my first year, especially since I was the newest teacher. Everything was new to meβthe methods, the environmentβbut I was able to overcome it, and Iβm truly happy about that.
Recently, I asked my boss how I was doing over the past year. She said that I received positive feedback from parents, teachers, and students. Hearing that made me so proud because I know how far Iβve come. Iβve improved a lot, and thatβs a big achievement for me.
To anyone reading this, I hope my story reminds you to put teaching into your heart and strive to improve yourself every day. I believe that God has a purpose for why you are hereβso let that be your motivation to keep going. ππ«°
