The truth is, when you give everything to someone, some people will still find a way to ask for more. They become so used to your generosity that your sacrifices start to look like obligations. And the moment you finally set boundaries to protect your peace, suddenly you become the bad person in their story.
But choosing yourself isn’t selfish — it’s necessary. You are not meant to run on empty just to keep others comfortable. Setting limits doesn’t make you cruel; it makes you someone who has finally realized their worth.
People who truly care will respect your boundaries, not guilt-trip you for having them. They won’t make you feel like you owe them your time, your energy, or your life just to earn their affection.
At some point, you have to stop apologizing for outgrowing situations that were only draining you. Remember: those who get angry at your boundaries are the ones who benefited from your lack of them.
