This painting tells about emotion, identity, and presence. The woman, with her blushing cheeks and calm expression, is someone who feels deeply but chooses silence. Her gaze meets the viewer’s directly, as if she is asking to be seen, not just looked at. It speaks about being open, and real.

I incorporate the crimson sunbird, a small yet striking colored bird, can be found in the Philippines, that rests on her hand. While the woman looks outward, the bird gazes to the side, reminding us that even in the stillness, there’s curiosity, and movement. It also represents the connection between humans and nature, and how beauty doesn't always shout, sometimes just as it is.

The overall image relates to the theme of Kontemporaryo: modern, meaningful, and quietly bold. It invites the viewer to pause, feel the woman’s gaze.

Happy World Art Day!

As I look back memories, I’m amazed by how many pieces I’ve already created, may it be in contest entries, commissioned works, and even random artworks born out of quiet moments.

It all started when I challenged myself back in December 2023 to take painting more seriously. What began as a quiet step out of my comfort zone has grown into a deeply personal journey of self-expression through arts.

There was a time I felt very shy to share my artworks, hesitant to even call myself an artist. I'm not a pro yet, but I’ve come to realize that being an artist isn’t about perfection, it’s about your growth, and your courage to create.

I’ve akready had a few pieces done even before 2023, in pencils, but it was only when I truly committed to exploring acrylics that the passion and eagerness to keep creating really began. That inner drive and the desire to learn, to improve, and to express, bloom when I finally allowed myself.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and believed in my art, even in its earliest forms. This is just the beginning, I know I still have a lot to learn and I’m grateful for every stroke and story along the way.

"Subtle Influence: A Delightful Legacy" is my way of honoring the powerful role women play in Mandaue City’. At the center of the piece is a mother and daughter with kakanin—a simple, tender moment that reminds me of my own childhood and the joy of pasalubongs. The background, inspired by wood grains, reflects Mandaue’s identity as the Furniture Capital, while symbols like Justice Sotero’s statue and the Mandaue bridge tie everything to our shared history.

A monarch butterfly and a sampaguita flower add layers of meaning—resilience, purity, and cultural pride. Through this piece, I wanted to blend personal memory with cultural heritage, showing how women, shape the legacy and future of Mandaue.

Sharing this painting, which I can't replace or repaint with a new one because my husband doesn't want me to. Haha. Actually, this was just made using leftover paints from my palette, which I had from a previous painting. I didn’t want the remaining paints go to waste and dry up since there was still a lot left. So, I thought of painting "Motmot," our former black cat who suddenly appeared at our house during Typhoon Odette. He was a stray cat. Best companion for my daughter dyring brown out season.

He's not dead, by the way! Let’s just say he got married and never came back. He doesn’t recognize us anymore, and now he has little "Motmots" of his own. At least he's with Kabang, the female stray cat, and they’re like a happy little family now.

Anyway, just sharing! Some random thought 😁 no need for every story to have a grand explanation. Hehe.

New Chapter, Same Passion - Creativity Beyond Boundaries! 🎨✨

Hello, everyone! You might have noticed that this page has a new name. What was once Artsy Whisk is now Ruena Fat: Brushes and Beyond. While I liked baking, my love and excitement for art has taken center stage. This space is now dedicated to sharing my artworks, contest pieces, and commissioned portraits in colored pencils, paints and crafts.

I’m not sure if Facebook notified about the name change, so I’m posting this just in case! Don’t worry, I am still baking, but only for personal consumption and small requests.
