A LOT OF PARENTS NEVER SAY "I LOVE YOU."
Instead, they hand you the bigger slice of meat at dinner. They wake up earlier so the water is heated for your bath. They keep the lights on even when bills are heavy.
Love in families is often unspoken, but it's stitched into daily survival. To miss that is to miss the truest language of care.
Sometimes love looks like a parent asking if you have eaten, even if you just said you were fine. It is in the quiet checking up, the subtle glances, the simple reminders. Minsan hindi tayo sanay sa words, pero sanay tayo sa actions.
There are moments when you realize that the things you used to take for granted were actually sacrifices. Yung hindi mo nakitang puyat, pagod, o baon nila para lang may maibaon ka sa school. Growing up opens your eyes to the love they gave without expecting anything back.
And when life gets tough, you remember how they held everything together even when they were breaking inside. They chose strength so you could feel safe. They chose hope so you could dream bigger.
As adults, we start to understand how heavy the responsibilities really were. Suddenly the bills, groceries, and long days make sense. Biglang naiintindihan mo na love was never loud, but it was always there.
So if no one told you today, your parents probably loved you in the only way they knew how. Maybe not in words, but in the thousand small things they quietly did. And that kind of love stays with you long after you leave home.
