CLOSED TOMORROW (SUNDAY 11 OCTOBER)

It's the last day of the school holidays tomorrow and after a few too many 'take your kids to work' days
the kids have been asking us to take a day off...

So we've decided to take tomorrow off and spend the day together

Sorry for the short notice, and thanks for understanding!

Back Tuesday as usual 😊

Adam & Emy ❤️

P.S. No sourdough this Tuesday, but we'll be back baking it next weekend!

We're adding another day for sourdough… Tuesdays 🙂

Starting this week, we'll now have sourdough on Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday

This Tuesday we'll have Plain Sourdough and Malted Grain & Seed Sourdough

For those who tried the Malted Grain & Seed on Saturday or missed out, I'll have another batch ready, and I'll cut up some more samples for you to try too 😁

I've talked before about creating room for more, and I'm still figuring out what that looks like

But to me, this is a pretty good start in that direction 🙂

Changing things up a little this weekend 🙂

Instead of our usual rye, we're trying Malted Grain & Seed Sourdough

A mix of oats, linseed, sunflower seeds, rye and malted grains throughout

I've been wanting to add something a little more rustic to our sourdough range, and I think this one might be it 🙂

I've got some cut up to try today, so come have a taste and let me know what you think

Come and try!

I've got some freshly baked Ciabatta and Purple Wheat Wholemeal for you to sample this morning

At the beginning of the year, Carol mentioned she'd been looking for a good ciabatta. I told her it was something I wanted to make someday

She joked that I had until winter 😅

Well... I made it just in time, Carol!

Come have a try and let me know what you think 🙂

This is what I've been up to lately

I've had a growing interest in bread and have been spending some time exploring different types of breads and what I can bring into Manly

I've also been fortunate enough to cross paths with some pretty talented people lately who have been willing to share what they know with me

It's exciting. There's still so much I don't know, and I think that's what I'm enjoying most

It's still early and I'm not quite sure where this will go yet, but here's a little look at what I've been working on

Nothing's official yet, but I've got some Purple Wheat Wholemeal and Ciabatta for you to sample tomorrow.

I'd love for you to try them first and let me know what you think 🙂

Thank you to everyone who backed me over the past week. I really appreciate all the kind words and encouragement

I also want to say thank you to everyone who popped into the bakery to wish me luck, ask how it was going, or simply check in. It genuinely meant a lot to have your support

We didn't get the result we were hoping for, but I'm proud to have put my pies up against some of the best bakers in New Zealand

After it all, we'll still keep doing what we love,
keep giving our best, and keep baking for our community ❤️

Congratulations to all the winners 👏

With everything I know today, I put forward the best version of the pie I know how to make.

The pies have left our doors, and now it's over to the judges.

We've decided to make a small change to our trading week 🙂

As of Monday 22nd June, we'll be closed on Mondays

It's something we've been talking about for a long time and now feels like the right time

Lately I've been reminded how quickly time passes and how easy it is to miss out on the little things when life gets too busy

For me, it's the slow mornings
Having breakfast with my kids
Taking the small adventures with my wife

and having a little more space to pursue some of the projects and ideas I've been wanting to explore for a while

For us, this extra day means a lot and feels like the right rhythm for us right now 🙂

Thanks for always understanding

Adam & Emy ❤️

These finally arrived 🙂

I've been waiting for these bannetons to show up for a while now

Truthfully, I still don't have sourdough fully worked into the routine yet

But after the trip, and after spending some time thinking about where I want to take things next, I realised there's only one way forward...

Just start.

So this weekend, we're making sourdough again.

Saturday
• Plain
• Rye
• Sundried Tomato & Olive

Sunday
• Plain
• Jalapeño & Cheese

Available until sold out 🙂
