Today's CSC26 ODEC session offered thought-provoking and valuable updates from our Pacific neighbours and the FNU anaesthesia training programme. Thank you so much to all speakers for travelling to the Hunter Valley to share your experiences.
It was very special to hear from inaugural PACT Fellow Dr Cecilia Bartley and her update from Samoa too.

Started our Mōrena at CSC26 with the Alan Merry Oration delivered by Dr Andrew Warmington sharing his personal experience as someone with Māori heritage raised in a predominantly pakeha culture and his journey reconnecting with his whakapapa later in life. Interwoven with insight of generational change and indigenous representation in the medical workforce across our two nations.

Followed by an interactive session with Prof Marcy Rosenbaum emphasising how essential communication is for clinicians. With some practical tools to help draw out key concerns and focus on the patient’s agenda.

We are excited to share the next webinar in our member-exclusive series!

Learn how to recognise the key signs of burnout and reflect on your pressure points and self-care behaviour in this webinar designed specifically for anaesthetists. Sarah brings a decade of experience in health psychology, a field that examines the complex interactions between our thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and physical health, and she will tailor her expertise to the high-stress and often challenging environment many of us work in. A case study loosely based on the real-life stories of anaesthetists will encourage you to reflect on your own behaviours.

Webinar: Precision and Safety in Regional Anaesthesia
11pm 7 Oct (NZDT)
Join on Zoom: https://buff.ly/Ry46R8L
This webinar will explore how artificial intelligence may help enhance decision-making and precision in regional anaesthesia and to determine the appropriate dose of local anaesthetic when drugs are combined in order to prevent LAST. By combining new technology with careful dose management and sound clinical judgment, we hope to move toward regional anaesthesia that is not only more effective, but also safer and more individualised for every patient.

Hosted by the Philippine Society of Anesthesiologists & Japan Society of Anesthesiologists - with the Asian and Australasian Regional Section of the WFSA
