I'VE HEARD THEY'RE GROWING FOOD ON MARS! 🪐

Well, we've been told you can't grow wheat in Golden Bay (average cocky, ca. 2019) and you all know how that went.

So whether or not the above statement is true or sensible should not be part of this "Hi, we're back open!" announcement and I really have to resist the temptation to delve deeper into it 😂

We're back open with locally grown and freshly milled grains, lovingly and caringly shaped into bite or loaf size morsels to feed and nurture you your friends and family 🍞

GREAT DAY HERE IN GOLDEN BAY! 🌄

Sun's kinda out, the GB Axemens Club just rocked up to set up for the Wood Chop competition, market is on, if you reordered you'll get a loaf in Motueka tomorrow and Bacca in Tākaka has got pastries with strawberries and cream 🍓💋

BIG WEEKEND COMING UP! 👑

Everybody's going to be real happy about a long weekend right now. I mean the weather is crazy good, who wouldn't want to spend more time outside. 🌴 🌳

We've got the Golden Bay Axemens Club hosting the annual Kings Bday weekend wood chop in the car park on Saturday from 10am - bit of a map in the pictures so you know where it's going to be 😉 🪵 🪓

Tākaka Village Market is on tomorrow as well which will bring some folx to town on another amazing weekend out here in paradise! 🎪

Have we got anything special for this weekend? Well, log cakes would have been cool but somehow we missed the boat, haha. Organic sourdough breads and pastries? Local AF pies? Fresh flour? Bagels? Give it a go 😘

We're very grateful to the team from Ellis Creek Farms who will be taking over your pre-ordered and paid breads and will hand them out to you at their stall at the Motueka Sunday market 🎪

How good is that? The best meat in the motu with the best bread around here = MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN 🍾

If this works out we will make this a semi-regular thing 😊

WHO'S KEEN FOR SOME GOOD BREAD THIS WEEK? 😍

We've just opened our doors and the majority of our sourdough loaves (white & rye, wholemeal & seeds, manaaki, country spelt, stoneground white) are on the shelves 🍞

Those who know have already set their alarms cos our wonderful Pumpernickel will only be ready at lunch-time. Made from organic rye, chocka full of sunflower seeds, this is a special loaf that won't disappoint. Have you tried it? 😊

We're here for you from today until Saturday, 8am to 3pm, at 2 Motupipi Street in Tākaka. Inside the Telegraph Hotel, you can easily spot the huge white BACCA container from Fresh Choice 😉

MŌRENA EVERYONE! GOOD NEWS 🤗

After being asked by Ellis Creek Farm NZ if it'd be possible to do a weekly winter market in front of Bacca again, we checked in with the Telegraph Hotel Takaka Golden Bay and can now confirm that its happening! 😍

Every Saturday (except for the first of the month, that's for the Village Market Takaka) from 9 to 1 in the Bacca/Tele car park.

HAVE YOU TRIED THE FLOUR GROWN IN YOUR BACKYARD YET?

With a bit of wet weather on the way, now might be exactly the time to try something new out in the kitchen!

Our 100% unsifted organic wholemeal, grown on Packards road is available for purchase in store.

It really does take the depth of flavour and nutrition to the next level in your everyday baking.
It is about as good as it gets for feeding and maintaining a healthy sourdough starter.

If you're new to baking with a coarse wholemeal flour, a good starting place is blending it with an organic white 70/30 white/wholemeal, until you get the hang of how it tastes and handles.
It tends to need a little extra moisture.

If you have any questions about flour we'd love to answer them.
