Bill and Gretel Smith, Ireland, stayed at The Vintage Room and said:Stunning room! We had the whole wing to ourselves. Great to have a dining table and seating area and there was even one of those old trolleys with mouth-watering cakes! The décor is beautiful: English country meets vintage, with antique furniture and old black and white photos and quilts on the brass bed. The bed was a big and comfy king bed, too. Breakfast was in Marianne’s country kitchen overlooking farmland and bush. Not a house to be seen, just views, and soooooo peaceful. After our sublime breakfast we sat outside on the veranda with a coffee in the sun. That’s the life.

Marianne and René, we couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay while having our adventures in and around Rotorua. The Vintage Room was perfect, and was spacious and comfortable with beautiful vintage décor. Loved the old tea trolley with all the crockery and cutlery, in case we wanted to enjoy our food or takeaways in the room. There was also a fridge, which kept our drinks cold and a dining table and seating area for relaxing, all just for us to use. Marianne’s home-made breakfasts were served in her beautiful kitchen and had views of farmland and a big, sunny deck, where we relaxed before leaving. Just stunning! Loved the anise poached fruit and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and she made the best coffee to get us off to a good start for a busy day of sight-seeing. We even collected our own eggs from the hen-house for breakfast, which was fun! We’re off to the Coromandel for a new adventure, but will be taking special memories of The Vintage Room with us.

The Vintage Room

Our business, B&B Blossom Cottage, has two accommodations: Blossom Cottage, a self-contained cottage with two bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, laundry and Hot Tub. Rate is $260 for two people and each additional adult/child $60, max 4 people. The second accommodation is The Vintage Room: Gorgeous, spacious room with large brass bed, ensuite bathroom, antique furniture, sumptuous bedding and quilts. Grandma's tea trolley with delectable baking on vintage crockery. Delicious home-made breakfast, including hens’ eggs collected from the hen-house, will be served in the country kitchen. Rate is $175, for two people only.

Hey Marianne and René,
We had a great stay in your super large Vintage Room with king sized brass bed. Bed was really comfy, too, with beautiful cotton linen. We even had air conditioning when it was humid, a fridge in our room to keep our drinks cool and a tea trolley with yummy apple cake, made with apples from Marianne and Rene’s own apple trees. The animals were fun and avoiding getting spat on by Cocoa and Milky (the alpacas) was hilarious. Rod Stewart (little farm rooster with feather ‘slippers’) and the ducks and hens were a hoot! Breakfasts were sublime: not just boring bacon and eggs, but delicious food such as savoury breakfast tarts, creamy mushrooms, home-made plum jam and yoghurt with apricots marinated in star anise syrup…yum! We even collected our own eggs from the chook house and Marianne used them in our breakfast dishes. Read the other guests reviews and not surprised that they’re doing well on TripAdvisor because it doesn’t get much better than this. Can’t wait to come back to this gem of a place in the winter for one of Rene’s massages and to warm up in the private outdoor sauna!

Have you heard about The Vintage Room, the accommodation in Rotorua, New Zealand, that everyone is talking about? The Vintage Room is located on a peaceful property with rolling hills and country vistas, and is in a private wing with garden views, antique furniture and granny’s tea trolley with delectable home baking on vintage plates. The spacious room includes a vintage-style bathroom and super king brass bed with Egyptian cotton sheets, sumptuous quilts and cushions.
Mouth-watering breakfasts are served in the inviting country kitchen and each morning guests will be served home-made yoghurt, muesli, star anise poached fruit and one of host Marianne’s hot dishes, which may include a savoury breakfast tart, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and capers or pancakes with bacon and warm syrup. There is also the opportunity for guests to collect freshly laid eggs from the hen-house for breakfast.
Children will love the old leather suitcases, filled with toys, and the trampoline, bikes, table tennis, swings and life-sized football goal outdoors in the meadows. Interaction with, and feeding of, the alpacas, bunnies and sheep is encouraged, but beware: being chased by cute, hungry hens and ducks is also a daily occurrence on the property and hand feeding is unavoidable!
The outdoor Scandinavian sauna with private changing room is ready for use and our experienced masseur and host, René, will eradicate any aches and pains with his affordable Swedish, sport, hot stone and deep tissue massages.
Our guests from Finland departed yesterday and this is what they said: ‘The Vintage Room is so charming and really exquisite, so clean and relaxing! We loved the place from the first moment we walked in the animal garden and the animals came running, greeting us! Kids were giggling with joy! Then we met you and you have both been so warm and welcoming hosts, truly lovely couple. The Vintage Room is immaculate, the breakfasts are super yummy, feeding of the animals is so much fun. Big, warm thank you. We loved this adorable house.’

The West Ham fans really loved their 2 day stay at Man- U fans' house. Everything is awesome! I, Ailing love your kitchen ! Having breakfast and enjoying the great view make our honeymoon in NZ even more memorable.

Thank you for a wonderful time! Our 3 days went by so quickly. Breakfast and our conversations were a highlight... and The Vintage Room is wonderful.
We loved being out in te country and enjoyed watching the animals. A new one for us were the green eggs.
