House of the Year 2024
House 2 Command performance
Horopito
At the base of Mount Ruapehu this house was all about energy efficiency. I was looking out at the snow on the mountain, with no visible heating system. I was toasty warm while taking photos of this property, thanks to its' triple glazing, heat recovery system and high tech passive house specifications this was a winner for me. The stunning views and quiet remote location were the visual highlights, but the real brilliance of this property has to be experienced.

House of the Year 2024
This is the second posting on my series of properties that I photographed in this years Registered master Builders House Of the Year. This time I am showing my favourite houses that have been designed around their environment. These 2 houses stood out to me as really been designed specifically for their locality.

House 1 A captain of industry

Built in the "Iron Pot" Ahuriri area of Napier named after the iron pots used for rendering whale blubber. This contemporary new home was built by Design Builders Hawkes Bay, as a modern urban loft. The use of black joinery, corrugated metal and concrete look finishes makes this comfortable family home look right at home in its industrial port location.
