Garden member Terese McLeod recently gifted the garden this Fairy House door. Terese is the Lead Ranger Bicultural Engagement at Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne. She saw it in the gift shop at Zealandia. Unfortunately the doors have already sold out. Hopefully more are on order. It is near the children’s playhouse. Have fun looking for it. We’re so fortunate to have Terese’s wisdom and knowledge and generous spirit.

A few days ago we met Arlette and Kevin collecting wood mulch. They lost many plants and their soil in the recent rains. “Even the Agapanthus washed away.” Apparently the flax was more resilient and held its ground. They operate a cut flower business “tucked into the hillside of Oriental Bay.” New Zealand Gardener will be doing a story about them and their garden. Their garden is named Bay Florist. Hope our garden members can take a tour of their garden during Dahlia season next summer.

Garden is acting like a sponge today and doing a good job absorbing all that rainwater. This morning a new volunteer helped repot seedlings and rebuild the two shelves above the potting bench. We are so grateful for our greenhouse even with its few roof leaks.

Many local businesses show support to the Garden, each in different ways. Here's our latest corporate friend, Chris from Watermark Signs, nearby in Rongotai. They have printed up a new set of entry signs, which will get installed in the next days and weeks.

Six years ago, this day in 2020, this was the Puriri Tree Garden. Next time I'm up at the Garden I'll snap a new photo from this spot for comparison.

Yesterday two new “Black Gold” compost sieves got built. Rainy days are also good for getting the inside of the greenhouse sorted. Actually, lots of outdoor work got done between rain showers.

A month ago the garden was the site for a Fairy themed party for a member of our garden. The Spiral Garden sprouted huge mushrooms. The Birthday Girl and guests could sit on the moon at the base of the Superintendent’s Stairway. The weather was perfect and the food spectacular.

Thursday got off to a great start due to a visit from David & Joshua of Tend Trees. They volunteered an hour touring the Garden and helping us with ideas on how to care for the variety of trees throughout our site. It's amazing to spend time with knowledgeable people, true experts in this area.
