This was such a fun cake to create!

This cake featured layers of rich chocolate cake filled with cookies & crème Swiss meringue buttercream, covered in ganache and finished with Pettinice fondant and jelly ice. We asked Lion NZ for permission to use their logo as a professional courtesy, and Elizabeth supplied the Speight’s to complete this fantastic cake for a Speight’s fan!

It was a massive honour to be asked to be Tracy Johnson's assistant at the New Zealand Cake Decorators Guild over the weekend in Silverstream Retreat in Lower Hutt.

It was a fun weekend doing 6 demonstrations over two days and meeting lovely people from NZ, Australia and Sri Lanka.

A special thank you to Tracy, the NZ guild committee and Petone cake guild for a fantastic weekend.

Congratulations to Dan and Sam, who were married at the Riverton Beachhouse Restaurant in February. Their beautiful wedding cake featured vanilla cake with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream, alongside vanilla cake filled with raspberry. The design was finished with gold leaf, decadent macarons and stunning garden roses from the Miss Muffet garden.

A timeless cake for a beautiful celebration. Congratulations again to the happy couple. 💕

Their wedding featured a wildflower theme, including their cake — a moist banana cake layered with luscious Whittaker's chocolate ganache, enveloped in silky vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream and adorned with delicate piped and palette knife flowers.

Hi everyone,

I hope your New Year has started off wonderfully!

We’ve got some truly exciting cakes in the diary, and I’m also ordering some beautiful new cake stands that will be perfect for next season’s wedding designs.

Things are incredibly busy here at MMC. I usually recommend booking around three months in advance, but as you’ll see below, our diary is filling up fast. I would now strongly suggest securing your date at least six months ahead.

Please don’t leave it too late — I really can’t stress enough how important it is to book early to avoid disappointment.

Just a little update — we are the most booked we’ve ever been, so I can’t stress enough how important it is to book well in advance.

If you’re thinking about a cake, please send through your date and any design inspiration photos, and I’ll let you know if we have availability.

I’ve been making this lady’s cakes for 21 years.

In the early days, I had free rein… but as the years went on, she became more demanding. The ideas got bigger, bolder, and far more challenging. She often changes her mind at the last minute — and she’s never once paid for a cake.

And honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Happy 21st birthday to our beautiful daughter, Paige. You’ve grown into an independent, intelligent woman with the best sense of humour, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Her 21st birthday cake was the shrimp from Shark Tale. Chocolate cake with ganache and Pettinice fondant.
