*****UPDATE FOR OUR CUSTOMERS*****

Travel preparation for Mona's family trip back to Cairo is taking priority and we have decided to stop now and re-open in July.

We will be making plans between now and then for how our bakery business will operate.

We are interested to hear our customers thoughts on the bread varieties offered and how and where we can make them available for sale.

Is the pop up shop at the Darfield Baptist Church kitchen a good place to come?

Is the time 12.30pm - 2.30pm a convenient time to come?

Sorry for any inconvenience and dissapointment caused but we decided not to bake today due to the weather and road safety for traveling to Darfield today.
We look forward to a return to lovely late summer weather for next Mondays Pop - Up Bakery Shop 😁
REMEMBER - we can take pre-orders and have them ready for you on Monday or Wednesday 😁

Civil Defence emergency declared in Selwyn

Selwyn District Council has declared a Civil Defence State of Emergency for the Selwyn district tonight (Tuesday 20 February), in response to the effects of ex-Cyclone Gita.

Selwyn Civil Defence local controller Murray Washington says the State of Emergency has been declared due to the Selwyn River potentially flooding overnight which may require evacuations of low-lying communities tomorrow morning. The sustained heavy rain today is expected to continue and worsen at about 10pm this evening.

The state of emergency will assist Civil Defence authorities in evacuating at-risk areas if necessary. The Council Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) is actively monitoring at-risk areas.

Residents at the Upper and Lower Selwyn Huts are advised to be prepared to self-evacuate if necessary, Mr Washington says.
