THURSDAYS RUN TO RAKAIA HUTS.
The weather was very changeable at times. But several cars and crews met at the start point for Kit and Carol's first picnic run of the season.
On the way we encountered rain, howling rain, and sunshine.
Some of us did go the the Huts, where the sun was shining during our lunch., see photos. While others stopped in Leeston cafes and pub. Hmmmm.
But in all it was a great run on roads I had not been down before. That makes it even more special.

Gold Card Cruisers
This is the first of our summer picnic cruises, so don't forget your folding chairs, table and
whatever you want to eat and drink.

Meet up at Spitfire Square, Memorial Ave Airport end at 10.30 am to leave at 11.00am
Our destination is South Rakaia Huts
I shall enjoy this trip, having never been to the South Rakaia Huts before.

WELL! The 30th Birthday Party for the Classic Motoring Society is done and dusted.
Before I go any further:
We must offer a BIG THANK YOU to BARRY RICKETTS for his one man committee in organising the whole event.
Thee day went off splendidly. The food was great thanks to Smoking Barrel doing the catering.
Pam's coffee cart and jams.
And the music, good background music to dine by.
We had 53 cars join us at the start of the run. With a few going straight to the venue.
115 club members in total.
Cars cars cars. Such a selection not all will make it, sorry

Well.
What a day, wet and cold. Spring is certainly doing its thing. One day hot and then the next....
We met at the Peg heading off though the back roads of Ohoka and Rangiora. To the Pineacres Restaurant,
An old place that has been at the junction of Main North Rd and Williams street for many many years.
What a surprise, the staff were lovely and the food was incredible. Good choices and so delicious. A big improvement since I was last there in 1996.
Would we go again? Most definitely!

GOLD CARD CRUISERS
Its that time again.
Meet up at the Belfast Pub ( the Peg ) at 10.30am
To leave at 11.00am.

The ill-fated run to the Cruzy Days Diner. Or what didn't happen
Well the Sunday run is done and dusted. Or should I say Mudded.
Graeme and Merle had organized a great run to a really cool looking Diner in Oxford.
All was going well until Graeme heard a rumour, so he started checking around. After trying the phones etc he took a drive out to the diner to find that it was closed/sold. With no communication from the owner. After scrambling around trying to get reservations at various places on Fathers Day no less.
The Oxford Working Mens Club came to the rescue.
So meeting at Spitfire Square on a wet and cold(See photos) 15 cars and 32 people headed away on some quite nice roads to Oxford. Graeme only had to change two instructions for the run.
All was going well until somebody in our car gave the wrong instruction. (I don't think I will live that one down)
The Club put on a very nice two course meal for us. $35 a head. Very reasonable for the short notice they had.
All in all, a good day out. And my Son the driver said he enjoyed the day. Thinking about a car now.

Meet at Spitfire square 544 Memorial Ave10.30 for an 11am departure to
“THE CRUISY DAYS DINER” in Oxford where we will have the venue to ourselves for two hours or so.

This is an iconic 1950s themed diner with a great menu.
We look forward to your company.
