Cuba Bakery Bunnythorpe

Cuba Bakery Bunnythorpe Food made from scratch, made fresh daily.

Probably one of the most unorthodox Facey pages you'll come across, just cause we're human AF and sssooo Bunnythorpe famousssss.

Just been watching someone on The Chase vying for $80,000 and OMG I need to go on there instead of sitting on my ass watching it because then I won't have to get out of bed at 3am tomorrow because (obviously) I would win against the best quizzers in the world because (just ask My Beautiful Niece) I know absolutely everything.

I have a whole bunch of Gluten Free Scones to make tomorrow - way more than I thought I would have to... Munch on that! Anyway, they'll still be ready by 9am. If you didn't phone to order over the last couple of days, unfortunately the numbers on my production list have batched nicely (perfectly even) and there will be no spares kicking around.

Getting ready for mid week Wednesday Team Bunnythorpe, Let's Go!

14/06/2026

On Wednesday I am tackling the Mount Everest of baking. The legendary, elusive Gluten-Free Scone... But they actually taste good...

What I do know from previous GF scone bakes is that they are fluffy, they are buttery, and they do not taste like cardboard.

Because I expect these to absolutely fly out the door, we are doing things strictly by the book. If you want to secure yours, you need to do it old-school...
- Do not DM us.
- Do not leave a comment on this post expecting a reservation.

- DO call the shop directly with your order on 06-280-2882. I'll be making both my Everyday Famous Cheese Scones AND my Everyday Loaded Date Scones (obviously both minus the gluten.)

MUNCH ON THAT!

Pick up the phone, talk to a human, get your name on the golden list. Once they are allocated, thatโ€™s it.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON ALLERGIES (THE SERIOUS BIT):
While I am putting maximum love and care into making these gluten-free, please remember that we are a traditional bakery. We handle massive amounts of gluten containing products on site every single day. I clean down thoroughly, but I cannot guarantee a 100% flour-free environment. If you are highly sensitive or celiac, please keep this cross-contamination risk in mind before ordering. I take this seriously and I want you safe.

A couple of quick answers to some Q's:
They're $7 each.
They'll be ready by 9am.

Anyway, get those dialing fingers ready. Let's see if the phones survive the Scone Boy army.

It's Monday Team Bunnythorpe, let's go!

A quick fair warning to anyone planning their morning pie run for today: Junior Scone Boy is away today so it's the B-team on today! Fark. My. Life. Because it's me. I'm the B-Team.

In his place, you'll get a highly volatile crew dynamic. I am working a rare Saturday shift, and my Annoying Sister is also working with My Beautiful Niece showing face at some point too.

Because our finest element is missing (he'll be sssooo hungover right now) and the sibling rivalry is currently at a critical level, we can officially guarantee that the service will (probably) be terrible but super efficient. So... efficiently terrible. Expect carnage, mayhem, and mild arguments over who gets to use the oven next.

Come for deliciousness, stay for the family drama.

Open from 7.30am until 2.00pm - it's Saturday Team Bunnythorpe, let's go!

That fark it's Friday! Even though it's not frosty outside, My Annoying Sister has an attitude so frosty this morning, I can't really tell the difference between yesterday and today.

Anyway, before I get the side eye shortly, I need to whip up the 200 scones for the day cause y'all have this really cute habit (especially on Fridays) of wanting 700 scones for a work shout you knew about since January and and making me run out faster than I can make more.

It's Friday Team Bunnythorpe, let's go! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

11/06/2026

Iโ€™m not saying this week has been frantic, but when the power went out for hours, so too did my motivation. And the exact moment the power came back on, my brain decided the only logical response was to frantically bake a million scones and not recover. And from there I have just never caught up it seems!

My mental capacity right now is practically zero ๐Ÿ˜‚ If I promised you something this week, no I didn't. I'll only remember if it's written on the back of my hand right now.

Anyway, pop in tomorrow to eat some scones before they take over the place and My Annoying Sister whinges I've taken up all the bench space. Because I do. All the time.

Happy Friday Eve Team Bunnythorpe!

A quick message from The Department of Unexpected Bakery Chaos:

We're having a small disagreement with the electricity this morning. Unfortunately, the electricity appears to be winning.

What this means:
-We're running behind.
-We currently have a highly qualified electrician on the way.
-My annoying sister and I are doing our best to cobble together enough baked goods to avoid complete societal collapse.

What this also means:
-The oven is currently an expensive stainless steel cupboard.
-There will be no fresh scones until the fault is fixed.

We still have everything else - pies, savouries, sausage rolls, sandwiches, rolls, donuts. Phew!

Please be patient with the team this morning. Any whinging will be added to a waiting list for a stern glare from management (that's me) and probably me running my mouth.

We'll keep you updated. Assuming the electricity and I can resolve our differences.

Just once, I want the opportunity to dramatically swipe everything off a table to make room for a giant map that I'll use to explain the plan... But nnnnnooo... I get to spend all day rubbing butter into flour.

And I bet y'all read all of that in my voice. Weirdos.

At some ungodly hour this morning, while most sensible people were asleep, I was in the bakery making more than 200 scones.

Then, like some sort of flour-covered guardian spirit, I disappeared before sunrise.

The scones remain. The evidence is everywhere. Trust me, I leave trails of destruction.

Anyway, if you're heading out to the Feilding Craft Market today, do yourself a favour and make a pit stop on the way through. We've got fresh baking, great coffee, cabinets full of self-control decisions, and approximately 200 reasons not to skip breakfast.

Come and see what all the fuss is about.

I'm off to Wellington to play politics while the A Team will be here kicking some ass.

It's Saturday Team Bunnythorpe, let's go! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Today was something special. When we started planning for International Donut Day, we knew it would be busy. We checked last year's numbers, doubled production, crossed our fingers, and hoped for the best.

What happened next was amazing.

You turned up. Early. Patiently. Enthusiastically. Some of you queued. Some of you came back again. And throughout it all, you backed us. Hard.

Because of you, we were able to raise money for Arohanui Hospice.

For a small local bakery, that's pretty humbling.

To our customers, thank you for choosing to spend with us.

To our team, who worked their backsides off before sunrise (starting before sunset yesterday even!) and never stopped, thank you.

And to Arohanui Hospice, thank you for the incredible work you do for families in our community every single day.

We're tired. But our hearts are very full.

Thank you, everybody. What a day.
