Before mechanised milling standardised timber into uniform widths and lengths, flooring was cut and laid according to what each log would yield: a board as wide as the trunk allowed, as long as the timber ran clean.

That irregularity, largely engineered out of modern flooring, is the starting point for the Hand Grade Collection.

Drawn from the banquet hall floors of the Middle Ages, its boards reach up to four metres long and nearly half a metre wide, laid in random widths and lengths so no two are quite the same.

Design Spotlight: Terrington Court by

“This project is the result of architecture, interiors, and client vision working in harmony. Designed for a couple with a love of entertaining, the home unfolds as a carefully choreographed sequence of spaces - each considered, connected, and deeply personal.

Every decision – from appliance selection to joinery detailing – has been made with intention, ensuring the kitchen not only performs exceptionally but feels effortless to inhabit. The result is a home that resonates on an emotional level: calm, welcoming, and quietly luxurious.

It is a space people walk into and instantly feel at ease in – a home designed not just to be lived in, but to be shared.”

Design Spotlight: Parrs Road by continued

"A collaboration between myself and client Joe, with the intent of creating a home that was both raw and refined. Joe had a two-word brief: solid and grunty; and my aim was to bring that along with a sense of softness. The Neston Hand Grade flooring was the first selection made, and with such a beautiful and unique foundation the home's story really grew organically. A rich and layered pallet of natural, honest, and patinaed materials was the essence of this project."

Design Spotlight: Parrs Road by

For interior designer Gina Fabish and her client, Parrs Road was an exercise in balance. The ambition was for something robust and grounded, but never hard. Raw, but refined. Masculine, yet warm and inviting.

The first piece of the puzzle was the floor: Hand Grade Neston. Huge boards rich in character and natural variation established a dramatic foundation from which the rest of the interior evolved organically.

From there, the material palette grew layered and tactile. Timber, stone, aged finishes and considered details come together in a scheme that feels honest and deeply connected to its materials. Nothing feels overly polished; instead, texture, patina and imperfection are given room to speak.

At its heart, Parrs Road is a study in contrasts – strength and softness, old and new, raw and refined. A home that doesn’t rely on perfection, but celebrates the character that comes from materials being allowed to be themselves.

We are dedicated to exploring the inherent beauty of timber in its most honest form. Its marks, variations, and nuances that tell a story of growth, time, and transformation.

In this chapter of Celebrating Imperfection, we explore texture – the raw, refined, and sometimes unexpected finishes that give timber its depth, dimension, and soul.
