The Canadian Cupcakery is dedicated to providing luxury bespoke cakes and cupcakes using North American recipes. We specialise in buttercream and clean, modern, designs with great attention to detail and quality. We do not bake any products with nuts. All pick-ups are by appointment only.

Maternity leave 🤍

As of now, I’m officially stepping away from the Cupcakery and into a slower, quieter season, soaking up these final days before we meet our little boy.

I’ll be offline from now, April through June, taking time to rest, reset, and settle into this new chapter of becoming a mom.

I’m also so looking forward to returning this summer, with some incredibly beautiful wedding celebrations ahead in June, July, and August, and a few remaining spaces still available from August through to the end of the year.

Thank you, truly, for all of your support, kindness, and well wishes over these past months. The final stretch hasn’t always been the easiest, and I’ve felt so grateful to be surrounded by such understanding and encouragement.

Until then, a little pause, a lot of love, and the beginning of something very special. 🥰💕

That first slice together as a married couple is always one of my favourite moments.

These photos from A&F’s wedding made me smile as soon as I received them — pure joy and excitement as they cut their cake together for the very first time.

Swipe right to see the inside of the cake they so cleanly cut (captured beautifully by Thomas). I don’t often get to see or share this part, so it feels extra fun to be able to show you.

I love when my couples share their wedding photos with me. As a small thank you, I offer to bake each couple a fresh taste of their wedding cake flavour on their first anniversary. It’s my way of letting you relive that special moment all over again and I love hearing about how the first year together has been.

This wedding was especially meaningful because it was my very first one at a local venue here in Voorschoten since moving to town. Since then, I’ve had the joy of creating cakes for more local venues, with more to come that I’m very excited about.

It’s hard to compare “delicious” with “delicious”, or “lekker” with “lekker” especially when your several flavours deep. That’s why every tasting box comes with a scorecard to jot down first impressions and rate each flavour out of 10.

And my favourite part? Couples often end up falling for flavours they never thought they’d choose. Those surprises make the tasting one of the most exciting parts of the journey.

We planned for sunshine. What we got was rain, wind—and something even better.

The styled shoot was set. The villa was stunning. The table was ready to be styled. My cake was ready.

And then… the rain came. The wind knocked over decor. There were moments when we weren’t sure if we could pull it off.

But we did.

Because here’s the truth about great suppliers: when the unexpected happens, we don’t panic. We adapt. We work together. We make magic anyway.

That’s what happened in Tuscany. We faced challenges and delivered something beautiful together. That’s the kind of energy I bring to every wedding I’m part of.

A week in Tuscany with strangers, in a language I wasn’t fluent in… what could possibly go wrong?

At the end of last year, I sat down with Marlijn to talk about a workcation in Italy. It sounded incredible—and completely outside my comfort zone. A full week away, with people I didn’t know, speaking only Dutch. Far from home.

But it was also Tuscany. Sunshine. Fresh pasta. And the opportunity to do what I love surrounded by other creatives.

So, I said yes.

And what followed was more than I could’ve imagined:
✨ A styled shoot in the middle of the Italian countryside
✨ Not one, but two cake designs that pushed my limits in the best way
✨ Friendships built over wine, winding roads, and wind
✨ The confidence to speak from the heart—even in Dutch (thank you 🙏🏻💕)

That trip reminded me why I do this. Why cake is my language. And how important it is to step outside my comfort zone and take risks on and for myself. 🍰❤️

The one that was years in the making. ✨

Every wedding I get to be a part of is special. I pour my love, care, and creativity into each cake, making sure it reflects the couple’s story and style. But some cakes carry a little extra emotion — because they’re more than a moment. They’re a chapter in a much longer story.

This weekend, I had the honour of making C&D’s wedding cake — and this one was different. It felt like the sweetest full-circle moment.

I first met them in 2018, in the early days of The Canadian Cupcakery, when their daughter was just two. Each year since, C and I would dream up something magical for her birthday — beautiful, fun, and full of flavour (their favourite was our passion fruit with vanilla). It became a tradition, a little slice of joy I got to contribute to as their family grew.

And yesterday, it was all about them. Their wedding cake was simple but meaningful — a small cutting cake perched atop nearly 100 cupcakes, stacked high on a 7-tier stand. Sweet, joyful, and shared with the people they love.

Being asked to create that cake — after so many years and milestones together — felt incredibly special. A quiet reminder of why I do what I do.

I’m endlessly grateful for clients who invite me into their stories, not just for one big day but through all the moments that matter.

Big news… and it’s all thanks to YOU!
When I started The Canadian Cupcakery, it was a passion squeezed into evenings and weekends—layered between work meetings and emails. I dreamt of the day I could spend more time doing what I love: designing cakes that taste worthy of a happy dance.

Thanks to you—your orders, your kind words, your trust in me and my business—that day is getting closer. This summer, I’m reducing my hours in my other job so I can dedicate more time to wedding and celebration cakes. It’s a small but meaningful step toward turning my passion into a reality. 💕
