BroodNodig We, BroodNodig, want to get started with bread waste. Bread does not belong in the trash and on the streets! No Bread To Waste! (Food) waste = food!

In the Netherlands, 50,000 tonnes of bread gets thrown away every year, in other words, 20% (warning, article is in Dutch) of our bread disappears in the waste bin. Bread is on the second place of the global food waste list. According to the United Nations, the problem in the food industry is the lack of cooperation between consumers, manufacturers and retailers. BroodNodig wants to achieve this c

ooperation and reduce the mountain of bread waste in Rotterdam. Waste is no longer seen as refuse but as a resource for new products. On a global state bread is always in the top 3 of the food waste lists. Strange as it is a very suitable raw material for all kinds of sustainable products. It goes without saying that we focus on bread waste. Firstly, we want a change in behavior regarding bread wastage. The goal is to reduce the amount of bread waste. Secondly, the remaining bread waste should not end up with the organic waste or on the streets. Through developing the Broodnodig 010, a digester that turns bread waste into biogas, we seek to give discarded bread a new purpose.
