It’s been almost a year since I closed Ti Bisou, and it’s been a while since I last posted.
Since then, I still see the team regularly, and I often run into former guests around town. Some of them have become true friends. Ti Bisou may have closed its doors for now, but the memories, the friendships, the sense of family, and the spirit of Ti Bisou live on.
And then there was Rudy.
Rudy wasn’t just a loyal guest. From the very first days of Ti Bisou, he was there - almost every single day, before or after his shifts at KLM Royal Dutch Airlines He grew alongside Ti Bisou and alongside all of us. Before long, he wasn’t simply a guest anymore; he had become part of the team, part of the boutique (and even part of the furniture as we used to say for fun 😉), part of our family. Everyone knew him, and everyone loved him.
Ti Bisou also became the place where Rudy discovered his passion for photography. It started with photos of our crêpes and galettes, and week after week he would proudly share beautiful images of every new special, galette, crêpe, or mocktail. We even created a special “Rudy Complète” galette just for him.
Later, he began taking portraits and beautifully captured Sarah’s window drawings (Studio Atoche ⋇ Sarah ) always finding a way to highlight the creativity and soul of Ti Bisou. He had a remarkable gift for making people, food, and moments shine.
He even had ‘his’ seat. At first, it was by the kitchen and the counter, right where all the action happened. Later, when we moved the brown armchair closer to the front door, that became his new spot, where he could watch guests coming and going, the terrace filling up, and enjoy the best seat in the house to take in everything that made Ti Bisou so special.
When Ti Bisou closed, Rudy bought one of our banquettes so he could recreate a little corner of Ti Bisou in his own home. >>> (swipe for full text)
Since March, I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him regularly again at Hôtel & Restaurant Frenchie Frenchie, where I’ve been helping Lisa & Tim’s team a few days a week while Amber has been on maternity leave.
