Marie Cakins started because of my love for making honest pastries and the lack of original desserts in most places in Amsterdammostly serving cheesecake, carrotcake, bananabread or brownie. Since a young age, my mum included me in her daily baking and cooking activities and I learned in admiration cause everything she made always tasted and still tastes great. I then decided to go a bit into that
direction and attended a Hotelschool in Switzerland where I finished with a bachelor in Tourism. For the past years I was mostly working for Booking.com until I decided that I should give my real passion (baking) a try. I quit my job and it took quite a while to figure it out, however I then first attended a PME cake decoration course about sugar flowers, sugar paste and royal icing and received the diploma. After that I subscribed at the Bakery Institute in Zaandam for the 9 week pastry course, which I finished and received the diploma for in June 2017.
