There are clients who will ask you for samples of what they want, while some others will come to you with their own samples. Then there are those who will say, “This is my budget, what can I get with it?”

You see this last group, they make the job easier for you and for them too.

Don’t get scared when a vendor asks you for your budget. At the very least, you should provide a budget range.

You either like what the vendor proposes, or you don’t, no harm done.

‎I’ve come to understand that for us as bakers, we have a different eye sight from clients.
‎
‎A client will be looking at a 6inches Cake and what they’ll be seeing is an 8inches cake, it’s always a mystery to me.
‎
‎One time a client ordered a 6inches Cake. I explained the size and everything as my custom is, she said she understood. She picked up and the next thing I heard was an exclamation.
‎
‎She said it was too small to be 6inches. That day I wondered why I wasn’t taking my business seriously, because I should be carrying tape for delivery and hand-overs, it really has gotten to that pointâ˜ș
‎
‎I went back to look at the picture I had sent her, it was not something that could be missed for a bigger size, no camera angle challenge, the cake was just screaming it’s size there.
‎
‎That’s when I understood that clients will see differently. They already have a picture in their minds of what they want from you and most of the time, not inspired by the sample you provided.
‎

When other people were outside shouting 'Happy New Year' and throwing fireworks on the 31st, I was turning buttercream and working on this cake

It was to be delivered New Year morning by 8am.

At a point, I had to peep out the window of my balcony, to view the fireworks and you know just soak in the view a bit..

It was so surreal🙂

That's how we delivered this pretty cake for a baby girl who turned two on the 1st.

A good way to start the year's business if you ask me.
