*WHEN GOD WANTS TO ANNOUNCE YOU, HE DOESN'T NEED SOMETHING BIG*
A little story from last weekend’s wedding cake 💍🎂
I don’t post often, but that doesn’t mean I’m not working. I still get cake orders here and there, some people even slide into my DM to place theirs 🤗. It’s not that I deliberately stay off posting; it’s just that I’m juggling business, work, and academics🎓, so I try to manage everything the best I can.
Now, fast forward to this particular wedding cake.
Some time last month, I made a cake for someone. When they came to pick it up from my compound, a passerby outside saw it and said, “Ah, someone bakes cake in this compound?” They sent for me, and when I came out, she said she would love to patronize me for her son’s first birthday.
We exchanged contacts, and I ended up making her son’s birthday cake, not a big one, in fact, one of the smallest I’ve made so far 😅. But when God wants to announce you, He doesn’t need something big.
Fast forward: someone else ate that same birthday cake and loved it! She got my contact from the celebrants mum not knowing me, but she said she’d refer me to her friend who was getting married soon. That’s how she connected me with the bride.
The bride contacted me, but she was a bit skeptical. She asked for my outlet😁, I told her I don’t have one. She asked for my social media pages, I shared them but explained that I’m not very active online🤦🏽♀️. She still sounded unsure. Honestly, I could sense it in her tone.
But the woman who tasted the birthday cake stood her ground✌🏾. She told the bride, “If you want someone with an outlet, that’s fine. But if you want good cake, this is the person.”✌️😘 Mind you, I’ve never met this woman before.
Days passed, and out of the blue, the bride called me on Monday that her wedding was coming up on Saturday!🫣 I was surprised, but I took the job. I hadn’t seen the bride, the groom, or even the woman who referred me. I just believed and started🙏🏾💪🏾.
It wasn’t easy, but God helped me pull through. I made some mistakes, learnt from them, and got new creative ideas. When I finally delivered the cake, I saw people admiring it. At the reception was my first time seeing the couple. I watched guests eat and genuinely enjoy the cake.
The joy wasn’t just in delivering it; it was seeing people relish every bite🧀🍰, asking for more. That moment made everything worth it. 💃🏽😚☺️💛
I learnt a lot from this experience about faith, excellence, and how far God can take you through just one small opportunity.
Moral of the story: Never underestimate any opportunity. God can announce you even through the smallest cake😁. 🙏✨
