Things I wish I knew before starting my business

I wish I knew that passion alone is not enough—you need structure, discipline, and patience.

I wish I knew that not everyone will support you be it friends and family and that’s okay. The right people will find you eventually.

I wish I knew that pricing is not about what people can afford, but the value of what you offer. Underpricing will only drains you.

I wish I knew how exhausting it can get doing everything yourself e.g being the creator, the marketer, the customer service, delivery person and everything else.

But most importantly

I wish I knew that growth takes time.
There will be days it feels slow, like nothing is happening.
Days you will question yourself.
Days you will want to stop and give up on everything.
I wish I knew that consistency beats perfection.
Showing up again and again is what truly makes the difference..
And you’ll be glad you didn’t give up on the long run.

What running a small business has taught me about people

As a small business owner I’ve learned that the value you place on your business is exactly how people will treat it. If you don’t respect your work, price it well, and set standards
 people won’t either.

I’ve learned that trying to please everyone will only make you undercharge and overwork yourself with little or no gain. And honestly? Some customer habits continue only because you allow them.

Not every challenge needs you to bend. Boundaries are part of growth.

At the same time, I’ve learned to always deliver excellent service, Upgrade when i need to. Learn more. Do better.
And never take on jobs you know you can’t handle because your reputation matters.

And you see consistency ehn?
It will look like nothing is happening.
Like nobody is watching.
Until one day
 you’re the first person they remember for something bigger.

Why giving up is never an option over here❌
There are days I feel tired, overwhelmed and just want to rest and forget everything else for a while.
Because building a small business from scratch? It’s not easy.
No one see the late nights, early mornings, the stress.
It’s being the maker, the marketer, the delivery person, the customer service—everything, all at once.

But then
 I always remind myself why I started.
I remember how this little business carried me through school, how it gave me strength, independence, and growth in ways I never expected.
I also remember the beautiful feedbacks and recommendations from my amazing customers—
“Your cake was so yummy”
“This tastes so good”
“Thank you, Your yoghurt taste so good”
" Someone will chat you up, they want to order your creamy yoghurt, cake and small chops.
" I want a beautiful room decor for my baby's birthday"
And just like that, I’m reminded that what I do matters. That someone, somewhere, loves what I create.

I remember my loved ones who encourage me, who remind me not to give up when I feel like I can’t go on.
So I keep going.
Because this journey is mine and it’s still worth it
