MY BAKING JOURNEY – PART 2 🥹✨

You remember I said the training fee for just one day was ₦10k and I still had to buy the ingredients myself right? 😅

She planned to teach me cake and cookies because I love cookies so much and she makes very sweet ones. She even wrote the ingredients for the cookies for me to buy.

But guess what?
I didn’t have money for the cookies ingredients 😭

Meanwhile, I was writing my WAEC during this period ooo.
Pressure from exam.
Pressure from baking.
Pressure from life 😅

So I bought the cake ingredients with the money my friend gave me for her birthday cake.

Yes ooo… remember I was the one that convinced her to do birthday cake so I could use the opportunity to learn? 😂

But when I calculated everything, the money wasn’t enough.

And I couldn’t tell her the money wasn’t enough because what if she says she’s no longer doing cake again? 🥹
That would mean no training. No opportunity. Nothing.

I had to think fast.

The only thing remaining to buy was flour.
And there was no money again.

There is this guy in my class, his mum sells flour.
I swallowed my pride and told him, “Please, I need flour.” 🥹

He agreed and told me to come to their house to collect it.

Of course I didn’t go alone o 😂
I carried one of my friends along because when it comes to men, I am very very careful 😌😂

We went there, collected the flour and left immediately.

When I say I trekked to my tutor’s place, I TREKKED.
That place was farrrrr.
But when you’re chasing something bigger than you, distance will not stop you.

So my friend and I carried everything, ingredients, hope, determination, and trekked down to the place.

When we finally got there…

MY BAKING JOURNEY – PART 1 🥹✨

Growing up as a child, I’ve always loved handwork 😅
I just knew I wasn’t created to sit down and do nothing.

I remember one day I carried myself to one tailor’s shop and told them I want to learn tailoring.
My mum didn’t even know oo 😂 I just decided on my own that I must learn work.

First day at the shop, I observed everything…
By the time I got home, I concluded
“This work is not for me ooo” 😭😂

I didn’t go back the second day.
And that’s how my tailoring career ended before it even started.

Moving on…

I decided to learn bead making.
Of course, no tutor 😂 I was my own teacher.

I would buy beads from people that make them,
Loose it carefully to understand how they arranged it,
Then fix it back myself.

That’s how I became an expert in bead making 😌✨
I started making beads and making money from it since I was 8 years old 🥰

Moving on again…

When I was in JSS3, I decided to learn bag making.
But during the training, I lost my boss 😓
It was such a painful experience for me and I had to stop.

After my Junior WAEC, you know that long holiday we usually have?
That was when I said I want to go and learn nursing in a hospital 😅
I actually went ahead to learn it too.

But when I got to SS1, I had to stop because of school activities.
It wasn’t convenient anymore at that moment.

Fast forward to COVID-19 period…

School was on break.
I was supposed to write WAEC but because of the pandemic, everything was shut down.

That was when baking entered my head 😅
I’ve always loved cake.
Back then, cake felt like luxury in my environment. It wasn’t a common business like that.

But I still couldn’t learn it immediately.

Then September 8th, 2020 happened 👀

One of my friend’s birthday was September 9th.
I convinced this girl that I know how to bake cake 😭😂

Meanwhile, I had already contacted someone for baking training.
She said her fee for ONE DAY was ₦10,000 because I told her I just wanted to learn it for home use.

₦10k for one day.
And I’ll still buy the ingredients myself.

I had saved the ₦10k already.
But I needed money for ingredients.

That’s how I practically forced my friend to agree to birthday cake 😂
She finally agreed.

Gbam!
I paid the training fee.
Bought the ingredients.

And that was the beginning…
