The Calabash of Patience.

Long ago, in a quiet village, there lived a beautiful woman named Ada and a hardworking man named Obinna. When they got married, the whole village celebrated, for they seemed like a perfect match.
On the day of their wedding, an old woman gave Ada a small calabash and said, “Inside this is what will keep your marriage strong. Open it only when you feel you can no longer endure.”
Ada kept the calabash safely.
In the first year, everything was sweet. But soon, little quarrels began—over food, over money, over words spoken in anger. Many times, Ada felt like opening the calabash, but she remembered the old woman’s warning and held back.
Instead, she chose patience. She listened more, spoke gently, and forgave quickly. Obinna, seeing her calmness, also began to change. He became kinder, more understanding, and more loving.
Years passed, and their home became filled with peace and laughter.
One day, out of curiosity, Ada finally opened the calabash. Inside, she found… nothing.
Confused, she went to find the old woman.
The old woman smiled and said, “What you found inside is the secret—there is no magic. Marriage is kept not by charms, but by patience, understanding, and a willing heart.”
Ada returned home wiser, knowing that the strength of her marriage had always been in her hands.
Moral: A happy marriage is not built on perfection, but on patience, love, and understanding.
