MYTHS ABOUT BAKING YOU THOUGHT WERE TRUE 101
Have you ever wondered about how you've come to believe somethings about baking cakes? You probably watched it being done by aunties, sisters and mommies at home and never questioned it. Some of these things are actually incorrect and today we'd be taking a look at some of them.
Myth 1: Overmixing your batter makes cake better ❌
Reality : Excessive mixing results in too much gluten. This causes you to have a dense and tough cake.
Myth 2: Opening the oven door ruins the cake ❌
Reality : Frequent opening causes heat loss however, briefly checking the cake especially near the end of baking time will not cause your cake to collapse.
Myth 3: Baking powder and baking soda are the same and can be used interchangeably ❌
Reality : Baking powder and baking soda are totally different and should not be substituted for each other. This is because they require different and specific activation methods.
Myth 4: You can swap ingredients or skip steps/measurement ❌
Reality : Baking is a precise, scientific and delicate process. Every measurement, ingredient and step is important and carefully curated. Don't try to replace butter with oil when the recipe calls for butter. Ensure to follow the recipe and you'd get a good result.
