Why it is banana bread NOT banana cake.
Some time ago, I came across a comment by a netizen, asking why it is called banana bread instead of banana cake, and that it does not seem like the kind of bread you could eat with stew😅. Yesterday, my mom also asked the same question while eating some. If you are also wondering, here's the answer:

The reason it is categorized as bread instead of cake has a lot to do with its shape, method of preparation as well as its texture. It belongs to the family of quick breads such as Zucchini bread and is traditionally made in a loaf pan.

Traditional banana bread tends to have:

A denser crumb
Less sugar
Less fat
A more substantial loaf
Strong banana flavor
A slightly heavier, moist texture

Whereas cake tends to be:

Lighter and fluffier
Sweeter
Higher in fat/sugar
More delicate
Often layered or frosted.

The difference may not be substantially noticed by many but note that cakes are usually lighter, sweeter and have higher fat content that breads. Although this type of bread does not require yeast or long-term proofing, it relies on baking powder and/or baking soda to rise.
To simply put: it is banana bread because it is denser, less sweet, has a low-fat content and somewhat heavier than a regular cake. And Yes, there are breads that does not require yeast or heavy kneading, just like this one.

BANANA BREAD POSTING CHALLENGE

Story time:
My neighbor's husband placed an order for a surprise cake on his wife's birthday. So, I decided to gift her a pack of banana bread.

When I got to her house, she was not there. I dropped both that cake and the banana bread off and left to work.

On my way back, I dropped by her place and as soon as she saw he, she lit up, asking for the name of the product I brought alongside the cake, saying that she enjoyed it and really liked it. She also noted that at first, she asked her sister to share in it but the lady was hesitant, she probably thought it was a plain cake... and then she took a little from it and probably stepped out because my neighbor's wife said that her sister came back asking for the banana bread but at the time, there was none left. She went on and on about how much she liked the product, my people, I promised to make one for her again🫣🥹.

Besides the taste, bananas are a rich source of potassium which helps the heart and ours have enough of it. We don't use banana flavours here! they are made with fresh and ripe bananas and are perfect for you.

You don't know how devastating it is to send out a whole cake only to get a call and picture of a broken cake from your client.
I made this cake sometime last year for a client, and sent it out for delivery, usually I deliver myself but on this day, due to other engagements I could not.

Not long after I was informed that it had broken during delivery, ah 😩.

I had to make some contingency plans to control the situation, spoke with the lady and offered some compensation.

It is one thing to do a job, it is another to delivery it safely.
