One of the smartest things you can do in business is simplify.

Many entrepreneurs are exhausted not because they have too much work, but because they are trying to do too many things at once.

In the baking and food business, simplicity can look like:

✔ Focusing on your best-selling products
✔ Using a standard recipe instead of multiple versions
✔ Keeping accurate records
✔ Having a clear pricing system
✔ Creating repeatable processes

The goal is not to be busy.

The goal is to be effective.

A simple business is easier to manage, easier to grow, and often more profitable than a complicated one.

Take a look at your business today.
What can you simplify?

Sometimes, growth doesn't come from adding more. It comes from removing what is unnecessary.

So, my baker friend in Abuja keeps saying this- " bakers like recipe, them no dey use ear hear recipe, they will jump in instantly". Very true, because over time I see bakers running after recipes....is not like they don't have enough already, but they just want more.

Bakers, can we talk? Not every baking problem needs a new recipe.

Some bakers have hundreds of recipes saved on their phones but still struggle with consistency, pricing, customer retention, and product quality.

The truth is that success in baking is not about how many recipes you have.

It's about:
✔ Understanding techniques
✔ Practicing consistently
✔ Maintaining quality
✔ Keeping proper records
✔ Treating baking like a business

A baker who understands one recipe deeply will often outperform a baker who has fifty recipes but lacks mastery.

Knowledge is important.
Application is what produces results.

Seek Mastery!

Let's stop chasing recipes and start building skills.

Using razor blades, how professional?

Can a razor blade cut fondant? Yes.

Would I recommend it? Never!

As a Food Safety professional, even if I am not, I will never accept the use of blade of fondant or anything edible....like, I don't get!

Haaaa! Who taught you people this thing that you should use blade to cut fondant in the name of sharp edges.... jeeezz!

As bakers and cake decorators, our goal should not only be to achieve neat results but also to maintain professionalism and food safety standards.

Today, there are specialized tools designed specifically for cake decorating:
* Precision craft knives
* Small sharp knifes
* Detail cutters, etc

These tools are easier to handle, designed for food work, and help achieve clean, seamless cuts without introducing a tool that many people associate with non-food applications.

While a razor blade may produce sharp cuts, using purpose-built decorating tools reflects a higher level of professionalism and attention to detail.

Good cake decorating is not just about the final look. It's also about using the right tools for the right job while reflecting hygiene.

As decorators, let's aim for excellence not only in our finished cakes but also in our methods.

Are you team craft knife or team razor blade?

The day I see you using razor blade on fondant cakes on the streets of social media, I will just block you.

One habit that is hurting many baking businesses is copying without learning....like bakers can copy eh!

Some bakers spend all their time looking for recipes but very little time understanding the techniques behind them. Stop it already!

As a result:
• Products are inconsistent
• Quality changes from batch to batch
• Problems become difficult to solve
• Customer confidence is lost

A recipe can tell you what to do, knowledge helps you understand why you're doing it.

That's why serious bakers invest in learning, practicing, and improving their skills—not just collecting recipes.

If you're ready to move beyond trial and error and learn baking with proper guidance, my online and physical baking classes are designed to help you build confidence, improve your skills, and achieve consistent results.

At Essengees, we offer structured learning...every of our class promises outcomes that are beyond imaginations.

Are you a baker or a chef? Come closer let me tell you something....

Taste is important, but consistency is what builds customers.

Anyone can make a great meal or bake a delicious product once.

The real skill is being able to produce that same quality again and again.

Can your customers trust that:
* the cake will taste the same next week?
* the chinchin will have the same crunch every time?
* the grilled chicken will be just as flavorful on every order?
* the food will maintain the same standard regardless of who is cooking?

Professionals don't leave quality to chance. They rely on measurements, systems, and attention to detail.

That's what separates cooking as a hobby from cooking as a business.

As a baker or chef, focus on consistency. It is one of the fastest ways to earn customer trust and repeat patronage.

What's one thing you do to maintain consistency in your kitchen?

If you've been thinking about learning baking or improving your baking skills, now is a great time to invest in yourself.
