Sometimes, when a teacher is angry in class, it is really not anger but hunger.
Anger in the classroom can be linked to hunger a lot of times.
A hungry woman is really an angry woman!
When a teacher is angry, he or she may just be hungry.
When your energy level is down as a teacher, you become irritable.
You become irritable because there is insufficient glucose getting to your body cells.
As you talk and teach and shout and show, you lose so much energy.
Teaching is not beans or moimoi at all.
Energy that is not quickly replenished will get you into trouble as a teacher.
It will make you irritable.
When you are irritable, you become irrational.
And no matter how good you are as a teacher, if your energy level is down, you will make mistakes.
There is bound to be an error in judgement.
You cannot cheat nature.
A hungry man is really an angry man.
Instead of taking it out on the kids and shouting or beating them, get snacks.
Enough snacks, please.
I snack a lot.
When I go to school each day, I take a sizeable cooler of food along.
My colleagues sometimes laugh at me because they think only women should do this.
I wonder if male teachers were created by God to suffer or eat stones and sticks.
As I go for private weekend lessons, I have favourite spots where I buy different snacks.
At school garden bus stop in MCC, Owerri, I have a woman I buy egg rolls from.
Her egg rolls are delicious and pocket friendly.
I have a small supermarket where I buy my favourite biscuits.
I stuff my bag with biscuits and even sweets to munch on as I move around for lessons.
I want my energy levels to be high always.
This keeps me motivated and less tired.
Research has shown that it is important to snack about once every hour to maintain the body's sugar level.
And you really don't have to spend so much to snack daily.
I don't think I want to constantly get angry at the kids that God has put in my care to teach and help.
I snack a lot to stay motivated.
I snack so that I don't become an angry teacher.
You should too.
