Winter Edition - Insadong Strawberry Shortcake 🍓

Our Insadong Strawberry Shortcake uses only premium ingredients, from soft & fluffy sponge cake, filled up with a generous amount of 200gm Korea or Japan strawberries before topping up silky smooth Chantilly cream.

Our strawberry shortcake draws inspiration during our travels to Japan & Korea where this cake is only sold during the winter period when winter strawberries are harvested.

Distinctively different from the Western Strawberry Shortcakes, the Japanese Strawberry Shortcake was crafted by Fujii Rin'emon the founder of Fujiya (不二家) during his studies in the US.

He replaced the original biscuit with a fluffy soft sponge that is more suitable to the Japanese palate and started selling it during the Christmas period as a Christmas cake and hence how Strawberry Shortcake gained its popularity during Winter Season. It is now even popular in Korea as well.
