源香 Guan Heong Biscuit Shop 源香 "Guan Heong" is the FIRST BISCUIT SHOP in IPOH town since 1918 and awarded with Top 50 World Street Food Award 2017 with its Meat Floss Biscuit. Mr.

In the 19th century, during a period when tin mining was booming in Malaya (now known as Malaysia), it has attracted many Chinese immigrants from China. Sitt Kun Shan, who was brought up from a bakery family from Zhen Jiang, China founded his bakery business in 1918, as the first bakery shop in Ipoh New Town. The name Guan Heong was adopted signifies his passion to serve the original and high qual

ity taste of pastry to his customers in the Hokkien translation. As the name shows, the basic philosophy it expresses is that we must present fresh pastry using high quality ingredients. With the hardwork of Mr. Sitt Kun Shan and his workers, the business began diversifying to include a wide variety of products like Heong Pheah, Pong Pheah, Salted Tau Sar Pheah, peanut candy, sweet sesame crispies, sweet rice crispies, bridal cakes, mooncakes and many more. Meanwhile with its strong adherence to taste and quality, the Guan Heong brand obtained a strong reputation and started distributing across regions. The baton of the business has been passed on to the second generation, Sitt You Zhu and now the third generation, Sitt Hock Lye of the family. Despite the changes in timeline, the philosophy and tradition of the business never change, adhering strongly to taste and quality in order to bring the best pastries to the customers. The third generation, Sitt Hock Lye with his wife further diversified the product line to include what is so famous in town today: Meat Floss Biscuit, Dried Meat Biscuit, pineapple roll and nutty cookies. Guan Heong’s traditional Hokkien Mooncake and Teo Chew Mooncake have also been featured on The Star Newspaper dated back in September 5, 2007. Guan Heong, with its heritage of around 100 years, the oldest bakery name in Ipoh New Town will continue to grow and serve the customers with quality and tasty pastries.
