We created five mini-doughnuts with a custard or chocolate dip for our customers to choose from. Two of my cousins were the 'delivery' girl or boy. They'd come to our house whenever we yelled across each house to one another and they would happily come and take the order to the needed place, (which was usually less than two hundred meters away). We paid them in doughnuts. Or, at least I think we d
id. But the real story behind Lil' Baker are two sisters. Two sisters who fell in love with baking. Who fell in love with the idea that food would make people so happy and therefore, wasted their mothers' ingredients.. Thankfully, their mother baked too. She was a professional - worked abroad in a bakery and whatnot, made wedding cakes, birthday cakes, made bread, cookies, mousse, puddings, trifles, tarts, pies.. You name it, she could whip it up pronto. Probably where our inspiration came from. Alas, there's only so much time you have until O Levels, A/S, A Levels, Uni, and then, eventually, life slaps you in the face. And so, it slapped me. My sister was long gone to uni by the time I started my design degree. During those four years, I baked. I made cookies and chocolate chip muffins for my friends and really really really loved seeing how their eyes lit up at the sight of the freshly baked goodies. And then they ate, and smiled and laughed. Such genuine happiness, all from one thing - food. Let's fast forward to today - the day I say 'Hello!' and welcome, to the opening of Lil' Baker. We make cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, doughnuts and churros. (The last two, we're still trying to perfect). We hope you treasure everything that makes you happy, just like we do with baking delicious goodies for you.
