There’s something about a rainy morning that carries memories with it… 🌧️
Back in my employment days, the rainy season was not romantic at all — it was pure chaos.
Getting ready felt like a full-time job on its own. My short outfits? Cancelled. My high heels that used to cry 'kondo kondo' 🤣 and complete my confident walk? Not an option. And don’t even get me started on my hair…
Half a day at the salon just to get those big, beautiful curls set for the week. It was work — real work — but it was worth it. I looked good, I felt good, and let’s be honest… nilikuwa na trend wacha tu! 😄 I was setting styles before “going viral” was even a thing. Musinione hivyo!
But rainy mornings back then? Stress. Anxiety. Traffic. Wet roads. Rushing against time.
This morning, as I listened to the rain fall gently outside, it took me back… but also reminded me how far I’ve come.
Now, I wake up early — not to rush out — but to prepare my family with peace. And when I’m done? I can crawl back into bed for a second round of sleep… or sit by the window with a warm cup of masala tea ☕, enjoying nduma and ngwaci, or even a buttery croissant, watching the rain kiss the earth.
No rushing. No pressure. Just gratitude.
I thank God for this season of being a homemaker and a home baker. A slower, softer life… and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
As I turn the pages of my book of the month and listen to the rain, I smile… because I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
✨ And as you enjoy this cozy season, don’t forget to treat yourself and your loved ones!
